Business Concept
The business concept you will report on depends on which business concept is voted in during your week 7 tutorial presentations.
Writing the report on the wrong business concept will result in a One (1) Grade deduction.
Referencing Min 3 academic references and using UTS Harvard Style Referencing. (Resources available on UTS Online)
Turnitin Your report must be submitted to Turnitin no later than Sunday 11:59 pm (midnight) of week 10. Refer to p.11-12 for inclusions.
Failure to submit to Turnitin by the deadline will result in a One (1) Grade deduction, and for every day delayed.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s); What happens if I am unable to physically submit my report in class? If you unable to submit your report by the due date, then late penalties will incur depending how late your submission is.. Only under two circumstances this may change;
a- If you provide a medical certificate (within 7 days) to validate your inability to submit, or, b- If you have been granted special considerations from the academic advisors.
If you meet criteria ‘a’, you may be given a formal extension by your tutor If you meet criteria ‘b’, you will be given a formal extension by the Subject Coordinator *ALL late submissions must be uploaded into the “LATE SUBMISSIONS” turnitin folder. Will I get any feedback on my performance? Yes. Feedback will be electronically based. When will I be able to view my grades on e-student? Generally the report grades will be published on PAN2 two weeks after the reports have been submitted and therefore available for students to view then.

on the External Analysis, as well as some Strategies that will reinforce your success in
achieving your business objectives and gaining competitive advantages.

1- Industry Analysis (Porter’s 5 Forces) –
Task: You MUST use the IBIS World report, as per indicated in the presentation handout
summary of the winning business concept, to Research and analyze Porter’s 5 Forces. In
addition to this, you may also expand your research by using other credible Industry reports
such as MarketLine, Euromonitor, Datamonitor, etc..
a. Industry rivalry
b. Barriers to entry
c. Bargaining power of customers
d. Bargaining power of suppliers
e. Substitute Products
Tip: Do not formulate your own opinion. The information in this section needs to be current
and accurate.
2- Strategies and/ processes to gain competitive advantages
Task: Formulate strategies in order to showcase how your business will meet its objectives
while maintaining its value proposition and gain competitive advantages. You will also need to
comply with the below strategic expectations;
a. Porter’s Generic Strategies (use at least 1 but maximum 2 of these strategies)
b. Any other strategy learnt from Chapter 8
(use at least 1 but maximum 2 of these strategies)
c. Any strategy and/or process learnt from any other chapter from your textbook (use
at least 1 but maximum 2 of these strategies)

The body of the report should be divided into a series of sections each with a clear, concise heading. The conclusion should sum up the assignment and signal its end. It needs to echo the purpose statement in the introduction. And it should not add any new information.
