Alienating the pros and cons of software packages suitable for the business operation needs of the firm is a first step in identifying the best system. Three software systems, Oracle’s MRP, Syspro’s CRP and Deltek’s ERP were evaluated and summarized.

Oracle provides complete and integrated business solutions around the world. The electronic packages provided cater for most business applications, which easily adapts to operations for the whole business portfolio. Key business areas include customer relationship management, supply chain management, product lifecycle, procurement, financial reporting among others. The pros of Oracle’s Materials Resource Planning system include the provision of useful scheduled information, which improves usability, the approach given to products is one such that it is supported by a wide community of users and has a strong sales forecasting. Several cons exist such as numerous online reports being user unfriendly, incompatibility of forms with other alternative databases and a large number of specific typical industry are left out.

Syspro offers a solution that greatly improves operational efficiency. The system is web-based as well as on premise and hugely simplifies processes. Syspro’s ERP supports manufacturing through integration, synchronization and control of the operations and procedures by assisting in planning and tracking output in production. Among the strengths of Syspro, is the integrated financial module, which offers integrated real-time solutions, which is powerful in decision-making. Its strong modularity allows users to customize the product to their business requirements. It is also easy to learn and use. Like all systems, the cons include limited and difficulties in locating reference materials and documentation, and lack of free support.

Deltek’s ERP, Costpoint mainly targets medium to large businesses. The ERP boasts of several wowing features such as three-dimensional accounting, business intelligence and other integrated packages such as expenses, purchases, materials and talent requisition among other functionalities. The ERP is available as a web-based system as well as on premise and can be utilized in a variety of settings including healthcare, education and so forth. The pros include ease and flexibility of use and access, support for multi-company projects and accounting, and ease of configuration and interoperability with other systems. On the other hand, cons include the high cost with billing being per employee or per employee per month, technical complexity and breaks easily.

Based on the above revelations, I would recommend Syspro’s CRP for the large manufacturing company. The software system has a strong integrated financial functionality which allows for planning, tracking and controlling of production output, best suited for the manufacturing sector and easily saves companies from the frustration of lack of materials. Secondly, the modular approach utilized by the software package saves companies time and enables the configuration of necessary modules as required by the business processes. Modules can be enabled when deemed necessary. Modules easily support processes from inventory to customer service and shipping. To add the icing to the cake, the extremely powerful software package is affordable with superb support.
