Concert summary/critiques
Each student will be responsible for attending ONE live Classical music concert outside of our virtual classroom, or view TWO videos of full-length Classical concerts online. Opera, Wind Ensembles, Instrumental or Vocal Recitals, Musicals, Jazz Concerts/Combos, Orchestra, and Choral groups all qualify. For a list of on-campus concerts, check out the Events Calendar online.
To satisfy the requirement each student will submit a summary of the event with a minimum of 500 words, or 1000 words for two videos (500 each).
•Concert summary/critiques are due by the Final Exam.
•Proof of attendance must be evident from the summary, and a ticket stub or program attached (take a picture or scan this).
•Videos must be of classical concert events and must be watched in their entirety. Videos are available on cable, video stores, Amazon, and a select few (of quality) on YouTube. The videos may not be movies or dramas, they must be concerts!
•All critiques of videos need to include the distributor and running time (if I can’t find the video, you don’t get credit)
•All critiques must include a list of all of the performers' names and all of the piece titles/movements (consider this, especially with YouTube).
•All critiques will be pasted into the "Concert Report(s)" tab. Make sure your scanned proof is attached—do NOT email your proof.
•You must attend, see, or watch the concert during the calendar duration of the class. You may not critique a concert you attended before our session begins. Reports are your responsibility to complete (no specific due dates), and should not be procrastinated until the last week of the semester.
