The goal between the collaborations is to discuss how recent trends and changes in retailer supply chain practices influence retailer performance.

The rapid conversion to global expansion began with Wal-Mart and Tesco. Oxford Handbook then goes into great detail of global retailing in the 90s considering the emerging markets such as, South East Asia, Central Europe, and Latin America. Who at first were untouched by transnational retail activity.

This source touches on the changing patterns of international trade and changing discourses in international trade. We want to go from a comparative advantage to an unfair advantage. Kabeer goes on to state that the changing pattern of international trade has also altered the nature of trade relations between richer and poorer countries from one of unequal complementarily to one of unequal competition. Also, labor standards issues have become a great deal. Attempts to link trade and labor standards have been met with considerable hostility from southern governments.

In conclusion the article identifies the many chains and areas where women are thriving in home-based environments, without the same resources provided in formal work environments.

It argues that more involvement by supply chains can result in cost reduction and heightened service levels. It breaks down different levels of logistics. It also helps to identify how to improve or resolve issues within logistics.

Global supply chain, standards and the poor by Swinnen talks about agriculture and the food supply industry. By identifying changes in supply chains within the food supply industry it helps readers to understand the agricultural industry. By focusing on agriculture and food supply there is a clear description of how these aspects affect poor people. It also talks about changes that need to be made to improve agricultural equality.
