The Article I will be discussing for my paper is on Solid State Drive (SSD) for computers. The SSD is the latest type of storage system out there, it will probably take over the older version, the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). One of the biggest difference is that the SSD works faster; making and helping your computer boot faster, copy files swiftly, and much more. Boot time for the SSD takes seconds, unlike the HDD, it may take minutes of your time.

Prices between them are a huge difference. Depending on their storage and brand; a HDD 500gb can range from $30-$80, and an SDD 500gb can range from $120-$200. The well-known brands tend to bit costly.

Unlike the HDD, the SSD has no moving parts and no cooling fan. This keeps the noise of your laptop or computer down, while still functioning at an advanced level than before. The SDD is much quieter than the HDD. Being that the SSD is still relatively new, the lifespan of it is undetermined. Whereas the lifespan of an HDD has about two to eight years, depending on how you take care of it.

Overall, it really comes down to a consumer’s choice. There is nothing wrong with having an HDD, we all still use it. It is also cheaper and does the same exact thing as the SSD, just slower. But if you are like me and others, SSD is a great and expensive choice. Combine SSD with a higher memory storage gives you a nice little machine. With technology always increasing; operating faster is always a plus in my book.
