1.0 Planning:

1.1 Problem Definition:

College of Engineering (CoE) in Effat University inspires faculty and students to undertake interdisciplinary research that will contribute to the sustainable and technological development of the region. The college also provides students with personal volunteer retreat opportunities and experiences in community service. Each student at CoE is required to volunteer her time in the program for a certain amount of hours each semester. The program director is responsible for cataloging all of the sites and maintaining records of each student and the amount of hours they have volunteered. She uses the little slip of paper as her only means of documentation. This is a very tedious process as there are more than 1000 students enrolled at CoE. Therefore, a system to catalog each volunteer program and maintain a record of each student’s participation in the program is needed, and to collect the value points by the attend the events, so to make any event the IT send all detail for the student life when they agree will send E-mail for all student in the university when they coming to the event, then at the end of the even each student will write her name in the papers and the problem will be very crowded and some students will be late for her next class and will lose the time and some of the student do bad things like writing her friends names and they are didn't attend the event and it is not allowed, then the volunteers collect the papers and take it to the IT, then the IT will enter the value points for each student and will happen a lot of problems like some students write her name not clear and the IT will ignore her name, and will lost some papers for the student's ID and the third problem will take lots of time for entry each student names then of the end of the semester the student ask why I don't get the value point for this event.

1.2 Proposed system and its objective:

In the SDLC system, I would propose the incorporation of biometric cards to all students which will help in clarification of identity as well as utilization of the already existing use of fingerprints. This cards will be issued to each student in the program and any time the card is used the information is transferred to the SDLC system and stored, and also propose fingerprint because if some of the students forget her card.

The objectives of the project are:

1.Design an information system that is user-friendly and can be customized to fit the needs of the entire program.

2.Implement the application of SDLC by use of fingerprints which is already in effect and biometric cards to give student’s information. This will help reduce the possibility of loss of important data and value points

3.Integrate the input data from various sources and give the required output and store every student’s information in a retrievable device at a faster rate and save the time.

1.3 Project Feasibility analysis:

Even though the program will hence have over 1000 independent entries, the system will be legally and technically feasible since it will reduce the amount of work by a percentage. the fingerprint system no need training to use it because it is not a new system for students and the university already have the system and have the fingerprints for each student and the students comfortable with that . The system will reduce the tedious work by the entry of all the students at once with their registration numbers which are featured when the fingerprint is signaled. Once this is done, any extra information or activity carried out by the student will be fed to the system automatically and auto saved. The system will require training to ensure that the users have all the techniques on how to use it, nevertheless the system is not that complex and will not require much time to learn since it involves few steps to integrate everything and start operating. It’s clear to note that the benefits outweigh the cost at a higher percentage, therefore, this proposal of system is economically feasible. The degree to which this project is usable, reliable, affordable and sustainable is an indicator its operational feasibility.
