Stakeholders
Alex- recipients
My client Alex as well as the other homeless children in the city will be the recipients of the program and will be engaged in all the steps of the program and the expected outcome. Since this will be a life-changing program to them, they will need to be handled with great care laying emphasis on their psychosocial wellbeing, especially because of their tender age. The 30 children entitled to every agency worker will be my recipients.
Community organizer- supporter
A community organizer will be a vital part of this program as his/her role will involve rallying the people and well-wishers to support the program. Creating awareness on the program steps among the locals and reaching to people of various ethnic backgrounds will go a long way in ensuring that the feasible outcomes of the program are achieved.
Mobilizing the community to assist in the program, being aware of their surroundings and reporting cases of child neglect and abuse to the authorities will be the responsibility of the community organizer.
Colleagues in the agency- decision makers
Designing an all-inclusive program and coming up with steps that will be viable towards achieving the project outcome requires a team of decision makers. I would engage a few of my colleagues to develop a foolproof plan for the program. We will be holding periodical meetings to assess every step of the program.
City Mayor- implementers
The success of the program will culminate in the implementation of the policies we are proposing. This will require the involvement of a political leader in the region and the mostly suitable one would be the city mayor. Upon conclusion of the program, we will propose long-term steps that should be put in place to handle cases of child neglect and abuse, schooling, homelessness and placement of children in foster care. Pushing for the implementation of this will need the involvement of the city mayor and the council. As social workers, we will lobby for the tabling of these issues in the council.
The six steps of evaluation
As explained to the mayor.
1. Engaging stakeholders
The program is crucial to the wellbeing of the recipients and with the current political pressure on the agency as well as the media scrutiny, bringing in the city mayor will cushion the situation. Working together to carry out the intervention strategy is quintessential.
2. Decryption of the program
The program will involve creating an enabling environment in the community for addressing the needs of the homeless children and those at a high risk for abuse and neglect. Through the program, policies regarding placement of children in foster homes and thereafter in schools will be lobbied for to the political arena.
3. Focus on evaluation
The program offers an opportunity for a political milestone to the city council and the mayor regarding the involvement in the welfare of disadvantaged children from poor and low income neighborhoods.
4. Gathering credible evidence
Statistics of the rates of child neglect, abuse and the reluctance of involvement by the community requires an evidence-based intervention strategy.
5. Justify conclusions
The conclusions herein, necessitating the development of the current program, are drawn from critical analysis of the existing data on the demographics of the city.
6. Ensure use
The culmination of this program will be lobbying for the change of policies by the state on children welfare in the city especially poor and low income neighborhoods. Awareness will be created by sharing this information in the media.
