Extra Credit Assignment: Midterm Grades
Complete Midterm progress grades have been computed for both MEDB5501 Biostatistics I classes. All students now have exact grades up to and including the midterm exam. You can calculate your number grade based on the scale of 0-100 by dividing your point total by the total points possible (218) up to and including the midterm exam.
I have run the descriptive analysis as well as a test to compare the two class’s mean grades for complete midterm grades. The data has been de-identified. No student can see the individual grade for any other student or the class section. All pertinent tables and graphs are found in this document.
Part 1: Write-up: Using all of the output provided, write one summary paragraph write-up of the midterm progress grades for both classes together and for each class individually all within the same write-up. This should be a summary paragraph. There will be no points given for summarizing each table or graph separately with no included summary write-up.
B. Complete the following:
i. Calculate the z-score for your 0-100 grade relative to the combined classes mean. Show all work.
ii. Report this z-score and also report if your score is significantly different from the combined classes mean. (Use the Z score for p<.05 (Z = ± 1.96) for this decision).
iii. Using your z-score and the table of z-scores below, report the percentile rank of your midterm progress grade relative to the combined classes. Pay attention to positive and negative values. (Example: A z-score of +1.92 = .9726 = 97.26 percentile while a z-score of -1.92 = 2.74 percentile)
