summarize each paragraph in column 1;
•combine paragraphs together in column 2 to form larger contexts;
•combine the contexts you have identified in column 2 into the larger points in column 3; What are the main contextual teaching points in this passage?
•finally, in column 4, select one or more of the eight themes identified by Polhill (pp. 57-72) which is highlighted in this section of Acts. List that theme verbatim (i.e., “the providence of God”) in column 4 and then include a paragraph (not a sentence) which explains how that theme is developed in this panel.
Keep these basics in mind and review your work in light of this checklist:
1) As you work on this, do not ever “re-assign” paragraph verse limits—simply use the paragraphs as given as the basic building blocks for the entire project.
2) Complete all of each column in order before attempting the next column.
3) Remember that a down-pointing arrow means that the unit of text summarized by your heading is continuing through the paragraph.
4) A left-facing arrow means that the unit of text ends at that paragraph.
5) There will never be any arrows in column one or column four.
6) After every left-facing arrow, you should have a new unit heading summarizing the next context (if in column two) or the next major point (if in column three). Either one must show the biblical references range.
