Short story

A few months back, I took a trip to Vegas. I wanted to get away and experience some adventure. Utah is great for sightseeing and hiking, but it doesn’t beat Vegas when it comes to cool rides and endless nightlife. I went with a friend who told me about a few ziplines that you could ride along the strip of Vegas. The ziplines went right above hundreds of onlookers along the strip; it was the ultimate for adventure. My friend also told me about a few rollercoasters that were placed right above some of the hotels along the strip. One of the coolest things I did was definitely ride one of the rollercoasters there. It was amazing how we could be on a rollercoaster and not be in a theme park. I could see different hotels, the highway and lots of other tiny people below. The only downfall to riding the rollercoaster, was the pain that ensued from every sharp turn that it took. Every time the roller coaster made a sharp turn, my body was thrown roughly and my hips suffered a lot. I either squished my poor friend and caused her hips to hit the side of her seat, or she ended up being thrown against me, and therefore causing me lots of pain when I was thrown against my side of the seat. Thinking about it now, I also heard many other passengers complain about the pain and I can remember a lot of “ouches” at every turn the coaster made, although at the time, I could only hear my own scream of pain and

laughter. The pain actually became a joke, since it was so unexpected, making the ride both hilarious and full of pains. I will say, that I did not have any bruising, just a bit of soreness at the end of it all.

At the end of the night we decided to try the zipline that goes right above hundreds of onlookers. At first though, we were distracted by many street performers, one in particular who had himself tied up with rope and chains and was saying that he would escape within a given time period. He played suspenseful music and began to sweat profusely. I was impressed by his energy, since I heard that he had probably performed the same routine at least 5 times already in that night. After several minutes and lots of his sweat and maybe tears, he was able to escape.

Once we finished watching the performance, we went on the zipline, which was probably the most thrilling part of the night. Since the night was very hot, it was refreshing to feel my whole body going against the wind. My friend was wearing a short dress and spent many hilarious seconds in the air, trying to cover herself while flying in the air. That was my adventure in Vegas. Full of pain and laughter.
