Delta Pacific company is an organization that is facing various challenges that require being addressed. The company intends to change from its traditional business model to becoming a knowledge-based organization. This company is facing many challenges when it tries to implement a new corporate strategy. The company had been performing well since its formation, but the company is not doing well since it began training its sales representatives. The company had been producing products that were very marketable in the industry since its revenues had been high. The company intends to change its vision and therefore there is a need for some changes to occur for each of the employees to know their roles. These roles need to change, and this situation has brought about challenges since some employees have begun seeking for employment opportunities in other organizations. The business has had many challenges, and the company wants to change the line of business to ensure that the revenues are maximized through another way that has no many competitors like the present business line.
Overview
Delta Pacific is a company that has difficulty when it tries to implement its new mission. The sales representatives of this company have been affected greatly by this new change in regards to training and the new roles that they are expected to perform. The company is facing problems as the sales representatives after the training they opt to relocate to a new position, and some of them are quitting from this company to elsewhere. The company’s level of profit is declining tremendously due to the concentration that is given to training.
The company had been the best in producing quality products, but with globalization, companies have come up that produce high quality goods that even sometimes surpass DPCs products. Delta Pacific company is facing many challenges at the moment. The company has seen its sales and revenues to be declining, and this has been caused by the fact that its sales representatives are being trained on how the company will be operating from now onwards. The company intends to be a consulting firm that will offer various services such as software, collection management, organizational design and all things related to information management re-engineering.
The training is meant to introduce the sales representatives into their roles. The training has held up these sales representatives such that they cannot reach their clients who are excited about having personal service from sales representatives.
The failure by these sales representatives to be on the field has brought a lot of concern since clients have started acquiring goods and services from competitors making the company continue to lose its market share. Further, these sales representatives are overwhelmed by their new roles. Some of these employees have started to seek new employment opportunities in other companies since they feel that these new roles do not fit them. A change in organizational behavior is required since the company is becoming worse since it decided to implement this new mission.
Thesis
The aim of this draft is to help Delta Pacific to overcome these challenges by suggesting ways that can assist in ensuring that the company achieves its objectives. This paper aims to assist this struggling organization to get on its feet so that it can achieve its goals that it has set.
Supporting topics/ideas
The company’s employees are resistant to change as they are threatened by what lies ahead of them. This situation is what is making most of these employees opt to leave the company and get work elsewhere or even change their careers. Some of these employees are looking for opportunities where they can go and perform their usual roles as opposed to their new roles. The company has dedicated most of its time and resources to the new corporate strategy and has therefore neglected the traditional model that was profitable before. The organizational behavior system is required to ensure that success is realized. The company did not involve its employees when formulating the change plan, and this has affected the employees tremendously since they feel that the company wants to change their roles without their knowledge or consent (Engle, 2008).
The company failed to ensure that it employee continued to offer after sales services as they used to do. Customers had been accustomed to receiving training as well as service contracts. The change of the company from an information technology firm to a consulting organization raised fears to employees since they were not accustomed to such things.
The company have abandoned its original mission and therefore requires to ensure that its employees are released so that they can perform their initial roles so that the revenue for the company can improve more than it is at the moment (Rue, 2011).
I have understood that the company intends to do a rapid change by changing at once what employees are doing by training on the roles that they need to perform and leave the old responsibilities that they had. Rapid change is it healthy as it has affected the confidence company’s employees by making them unsure of the intention of this organization.
Recommendations
The company needs to use Vroom and Yetton’s Normative Decision Model. This model would assist these employees to be in a position to cope with the new changes that are arising in the organization. This model will assist these employees to find their new roles as being interesting and therefore they will be ready to stick to the organization. The company needs to balance the training and doing business since both of these roles are vital to the organization. Further, it is important for the organization to learn from other companies that have experience in such things.
The company needs to understand the change of a company’s vision is serious, and it can, therefore, affect people differently. It is the role of the management to prepare employees for these changes to ensure that they are ready to face the new things coming their way.
There is a need to address the concerns of employees to ensure that all fear and worry about the new roles is removed to ensure that these employees are comfortable so that they can do their jobs as expected.
The company needs to ensure that the consulting services it is providing increased so as to compensate for the loss of revenue. If the company fails to observe this situation, it will close down since it will not even have money to pay for its expenses.
Customers had indicated that they value personalized advice and personal interactions with the sales representatives. The company needs to ensure that the sales representatives continue to offer these services to attract customers back to the business by using their strategy which will also be effective in this line of business also (Rue, 2011).
I would recommend that the company uses a slow approach to implementing this new vision for the company to ensure that the system is implemented in a manner that does not disrupt the company’s operations. A slow approach will help the company go through the change process slowly so that there will be no confusion in the process as people will be ready for the change when time is over.
The firm needs to train its employees so that they can continue developing long term relationship with customers is that they can be coming once again to get consulting services from DPC. The company needs to increase the employment benefits so as to attract employees and also to be able to retain the current employees (Zink, 2014).
Conclusion
Delta Pacific is a company that intends to change its operations from traditional to knowledge-based systems. The company has experienced various challenges in its implementation. There is a need for the company to consider understanding its employees and also being clear on what they are to expect to ensure all fear is removed so that they can be comfortable in whatever roles they will be given.
It is vital for the contingency models to be used to ensure that the change initiative is successful. These contingency models will help in identifying challenges, and it will also assist in finding solutions to the various problems.
According to the Myers-Briggs, personality type is that I am judging meaning that I prefer introverted function rather than introverted function. The model that I will be using is the Vroom and Yetton’s Normative Decision Model since it will assist these employees of Delta Pacific company to overcome stress.
This model will assist these employees in understanding the sources of stress, their effects and what they can do to overcome the stress. This model will be used to assist employees in understanding their personalities so that they can know the roles that they will play to assist the company to achieve its goals. The model will help in reducing the pressure and stress of employees having to change their careers and help them to cope and therefore be there to assist the company to achieve its goals and objectives.
