2. Montreal council has decided to build a multipurpose cultural centre. $25M is estimated as the
cost of this project. It is authorized to issue $26M in bonds to fund the construction and other
relevant costs. The bonds are redeemable at the end of 30 years and with annual interest paid
at 9% of the bond principal. Neither the term nor its rate is representative of the current market
conditions. Three banks bid has been received as follows:
a. RBC: $25.5M
b. CIBC: $25.2M
c. TD: $25M
Select the proper bid and determine the effective interest rate.
3. RIBNA Co. wants to bid for a project with 12% profit markup. $2M is estimated for the direct
and indirect costs of this project. The historical data indicates that the fixed overhead for the
last year was $450K with 5% and 15% inflation and firm growth factors respectively. RIBNA’s
total volume is $6M that includes $1M as the G&A. what is RIBNA’s bid price?

of Balance or figure 9.5 in the book). Assume that each month consists of 20 working days on
the average. The program chart for this process is shown below. Calculate the line of balance for
