PROJECT OVERVIEW 2

Project overview

The case study is about Delta Pacific Company. The company faced difficulty when implementing a new mission for the organization since some of the sales representatives are not ready to accept the change. Resistance to change is an issue that needs to be addressed by this company. The other thing that I have grasped from reading the case study is that the company has dedicated more time for training its employees and therefore have left little time for the sales representatives to spend time with customers and therefore the sales are declining as well as the profitability of the company. Even in the presence of resources, time, manpower and all of the things that are essential in bringing change, the company needs to alter its organizational behavior system to ensure that it is successful in its undertakings.

The contingency models that I intend to use for the change initiative is the Path-goal theory of leadership and Vroom and Yetton’s Normative Decision Model. The path-goal theory of leadership can be used especially with the directive leaders. These leaders often set schedules, clarify expectations for each employee and ensure that employees are aware of what their roles are during a work day. This style of leadership is effective when employees are experiencing ambiguity in their roles and therefore need clarification. This style of leadership motivates employees who are not clear about the roles that need to perform.

According to Vroom and Yetton’s Normative Decision Model is that reducing employee stress can be done in various ways so as to avoid absenteeism.

The model that I will be using is the Vroom and Yetton’s Normative Decision Model since it will assist these employees of delta pacific company to overcome stress and therefore stop doing the unexpected things that they are doing since it is affecting the company in a negative manner.
