English 1020 Research Paper: Proposal Prep

Topic:

What role the government can play in making healthy choices easier in America

Regulations and policies on food and food items are the fundamental role of the government in ensuring Americans make the healthiest choices on food patterns. For example, the Department of Agriculture in the United States is responsible for updating the minimum nutritional requirements for state school lunch and breakfast programs bringing students to the present knowledge of what constitutes healthy diets among different age groups. Policies and rules that promote healthy food consumption and limits citizen’s access to unhealthy food choices and patterns are the most critical tools in addressing and reducing obesity epidemic.

Potential title:

The ability for citizens to make healthy food choices and consumptions requires a higher government involvement. The role of the government revolves around setting strict standards that support and campaigns for healthy living within the American community. The regulations and standards that are developed by the government should help spread the knowledge of maintaining and adopting healthy eating patterns.

Audience:

The public in General including children and the elderly is the target audience. This development is not for governmental institutions because governmental agencies and administrations are responsible for developing regulations and authorizations that are helpful to the public. Because the approach that the public believes in is the bottom-up approach, the government is not targeted since governmental administrations to control food industries and individual consumption patterns.

Argumentative stance (what are you trying to prove?):

To achieve healthy food trends, it is the role of the government to apply a bottom-up pyramid to control the food industry. However, food industries also play an administrative role similar to that of the government.

State and local governments can play instrumental roles in the promotion of healthy eating standards, policies and laws in a variety of ways. For instance, some local administrators have in the past used urban planning techniques such as licensing laws and zoning as well as an incentive program to aid in the regulation of locations and compactness of fast food joints in town. At the same time, governmental administrators have promoted accessibility of healthy food joints and outlets within localities. For this reason, Governments can also support healthy eating patterns by funding programs of healthy food trends, help lower the cost of inorganic food and make healthy food accessible to common citizens.

This article reveals the role of the government in developing programs that run and work in preventing school going children from being unhealthy and obese. The purpose of writing this article is to reveal a particular program that would work for children throughout American schools. This article is considered credible because it is found on the EBSCO website. Written by a doctor conducting first-hand research, this development is relevant to use by the government.

This article is an argument designed for the attorney general to develop policies that would fight obesity even more. This development argues out for more government regulation and intervention in combating unhealthy purchasing of food patterns. This development is focused on the data that reveals how fighting obesity in adults has failed to decrease and how child obesity has been countered ever since the government developed techniques and standards to reduce obesity in children in a short run. This article declares that the child obesity might go up again if the government does not get involved further in the general issue of healthy eating habits.
