Fall 16

Project #3: Product Life Cycle

The Product Life Cycle is a theory that is helpful in guiding strategic marketing decisions about how a product is promoted, where it might be sold, pricing (and profit), and even product attributes. It also has something to tell us about the competitive environment and new product development.

The products below represent the product classes which are in their growth stage of Product Life Cycle. Pick one product category from the list:

· Tablets

· Keurig Coffee machine

· Blue Ray DVD

· 3D Printer

1. Using the product category chosen as a product class and a popular branded product as a specific example, explain how price, promotion, distribution, product (features and attributes), and competition have changed, and are likely to change as the product move through the product life cycle.

2. Prepare a 10-15 minute oral presentation and a three- to five-page paper (both are due on the same day).
