In order to understand the foundations of strategic management we will look at the evolution of strategic management.  Let's take a look at the practice of long-range planning.  The assumption of long-range planning is that the organization will continue to produce its current products and services matching the consumer's demand and use.

 

What are the some of the variables that might come up using a long-range plan as a strategic plan?  How far into the future should be included in a long-range plan?
