Summary/Description of Research Problem

The basis of research is derived from the curiosities of previous studies that has been taken place. The focus of my interest is in School Counseling and the concentration is assessing the long-term effects of bullying prevention programs on antisocial behaviors among youth ages 12-18. The research interest proposed above ought to reveal the effectiveness of bullying programs, explain the limitations of the programs that are already in place, and it could contribute to new inquiries and generalizations. This realm of research is important because bullying dehumanizes children’s development by altering their self-esteem. The plan is to focus on revisiting previous studies on program effectiveness of bullying to discover what is consistent about the studies, the methods that were used, findings, and the limitations of the studies, so that a new plan of action may be originated.

Bullying

Bullying is deemed as abuse in the form of using words and actions to inflict bodily, mental, and emotional harm to an individual. There are several types of bullying, which will be discussed later in the research report. Bullying transpires due to lack of education about the subject. Children who bully others exemplify deficiencies of their own and most believe that the only way to hide their deficiencies is to put fear in the hearts of other pupils or people. However, bullying is classified as an antisocial behavior. An antisocial behavior is an unruly action that initiates deliberate belligerence towards other individuals. Behaviors can be molded, moderated and directed with the proper intervention plans in place. Overall, the result of this research analysis ought to explore other possible prevention and intervention plans for reducing long-term antisocial behaviors.
