HEALTH CONCERN IN USA

The rapid population increase in the USA has raised concern on various social amenities which include those of health services like the hospitals. This is especially with the individuals who are in the ageing period as they continue increasing where they put pressure on the health care services. This is because most of the individuals who are in this age bracket are prone to diseases and other body weaknesses which require medical attention from the public hospitals (Manton, Gu & Lamb, 2006). The aged citizens mainly don’t work as their bodies are generally weak and hence they depend much on the government provisions and assistance in terms of medication and treatment. For this reason, the USA government needs to prepare and plan well for the assistance of the same citizens.

The government should increase budget allocation to the health sector specifically to cater for the aged citizens’ medication services. This will assist much for some valid steps to be taken after the money is increased which include employing of more professional doctors who will reduce the ratio of patient to doctor. The doctors will be able to attend to many patients as the level of patients increases with the increasing population in the USA. This will be able to solve the cases of more deaths of aged people being witnessed rampantly due to less number of doctors to attend to them (Guralnik, Fried, Simonsick, Lafferty, & Kasper, 1995). In addition, more hospitals and wards need to be constructed to help accommodate the large number of aged patients who are in critical conditions and need to be attended for while in hospitals.

Again, the funds will also help in the purchase of medicine for the aged individuals and give them at subsidized prices if not for free. Many aged people become seriously ill and some die due to not affording the medicine which they have been prescribed for by the doctors and hence when they the government increases free medicine to almost all kinds of sicknesses, then they would have been saved. However, this may be hard to the USA government as some medicines are so expensive for the government to give them for free more so when many aged citizens are looking forward to have (Manton, Gu & Lamb, 2006). This may mean to increase the taxes, government revenues and reduce some other sector’s funds which also may bring a lot of difficulties but all in all the health of the aged citizens should be given the first priority and the necessary plans should be done to assist them.

The government needs to invest more in promoting the youth and adults to have an established source of income. This may be done through giving loans for them to start their entrepreneurial businesses, creating more employment opportunities and increasing educational scholarships which will give the youth enough professional skills to be employed and work (Guralnik, Fried, Simonsick, Lafferty, & Kasper, 1995). This will enable reduce the dependency ratio of the youth to adult population and thus the funds which were used for the youth will be again be given to the aged population. Although this preparation may take a long time to be achieved, it is worth for the wait for it will bring a long-lasting solution for the USA economy.

Finally, the government should implement family planning and restrict the immigration of many foreigners in the state to help reduce the population particularly the aged population. This reduce of population will reduce the pressure being witnessed in the social amenities in the state and hence it is important for it to be implemented (Manton, Gu, & Lamb, 2006). In addition, the dependency ratio of the ageing to adult will reduce giving the government an easy time in focusing on other developments.
