Hypothesis
The research will be based on the hypothesis that pornography has a negative impact on the clinical/mental health, social life/aspects of the person who uses it as compared to those who do not use it. Moreover, another hypothesis will be that self-reported pornography addiction will be a predictor for those partakers who have revealing levels of downheartedness, apprehension, global relentlessness, impressiveness, and non-suicidal self-harming. The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not there exists co-morbidity between pornography addiction and mental health disorders as well as social disorders as compared to those who do not use it.
Prediction with operational definition
The term pornography will be used to mean the regulated, overt visual portrayals of bodies, sex organs and sexual action specifically intended to stimulate.
There shall be the need to explore a variety of internet pornographic usage namely; obscenity, erotica, online sexual behavior, cybersex, sexual addiction, and sexual compulsivity.
Youth will mean any female or male individual with the age of 12 -25.
The objectives will be:
1. To investigate how the level of exposure of the youth to Internet pornography can affect their mental health.
2. To investigate how the level of exposure of the youth to Internet pornography can affect their social health.
The research, therefore, will answer the questions:
1. Will individuals who currently view pornography considerably differ in mental health as compared to those who do not view it?
2. Will those persons who report higher levels of obsessive use suggestively differ from those individuals who said that they are not addicted to pornography in social health?
Methodology
The study will rely on the use of interviews and questionnaires among individual students, internet users of varied racial and gender definition who sought to counsel through health/school institutions paraprofessional counseling. Their ages will range from 12-25 as that is the age that carries a majority of the youth. This is aimed to come up with a qualitative and quantitative data of the people who watch pornographic material, the frequency, the level to which it affects their health, social life and them. Furthermore, some interviews and questionnaires will be sent to parents, teachers and church leaders of varied ages and perceptions. Moreover, there will be the usage of published secondary data in form of reviews so as to give detailed information about prior studies and the literature review.
