Mid-semester Assignment

Reflecting on Your Leadership Capabilities

You are up for a promotion at your place of work, and part of the evaluation process includes a self-evaluation of your leadership competence. To get started, you will need to complete three (3) surveys that will clarify the traits, skills, and behavioral styles you exhibit that relate to leadership. The surveys are separate attachments:

 LMX 7 Questionnaire

 Skills Inventory

After you have completed the three (3) surveys, write a self-reflective report that addresses the following:

1. A summary of the results for the questionnaires to include your interpretation of the

results. Conduct research on the topic of leadership styles and behaviors and identify which leadership style fits your skills and competencies - (3 pages)

2. Summarize what you have learned from the questionnaire findings by describing your

strengths and areas that you need to improve in. Do you agree with the findings? If not, explain why - (2 pages)

3. Describe three actionable steps for strengthening your leadership competence - (2

pages)

Assignment Criteria:

 Your paper should include a cover page, introductory and concluding paragraphs, and a references page.

 Include research from at least five (5) sources published within the last five years. Three of the sources should be from scholarly publications.

 Use descriptive headings (not the assignment questions) to organize and distinguish your responses to the assignment questions.

 Prepare your paper in MS W ord with 1-inch margins on all sides, double-spaced and 12 pt. Times New Roman font or 10 pt. Arial font.

 Optional -- submit a draft of this assignment to your Draft folder by October 25.  Submit your paper as an MS Word document to the Assignment folder.  The Written Assignment Rubric will be used to evaluate all assignments, and this rubric

is located on the Content page in the classroom.

 Late assignments are subject to a penalty. See the section on Assignment Due Dates and Submitting Late Assignments in the Syllabus.

 Your paper must be original to this course -- you cannot resubmit a paper previously submitted for a similar assignment for another course, or if you are you are retaking this course.
