Being on a military installation there are hazards all around that could threaten the population. Some of the major hazards include power plants, biological hazards, and terrorism. In chapter five of the reading this week it states a biological hazard is “those that achieve their intended target effects through the infectivity of disease-causing micro-organisms and other such entities including viruses, infectious nucleic acids, and prions” (Perry 2006). In Fort Leonard Wood, MO this is one of the biggest hazards we have on post. It’s the primary post for training chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear also known as CBRN. This school has an abundance number of chemical agents used to train the new soldiers cycle after cycle. If one of these chemical agents gets release or in the wrong hands it will severally impact the health and welfare of the installation.

These adjustments include “hazard mitigation (e.g., land use practices and building construction practices), emergency preparedness practices (e.g., detection and warning systems), and recovery preparedness practices (e.g., diversified investments and hazard insurance) to avoid casualties and property damage” (Perry).
