Introduction

The business world has proved to be competitive. Many organizations have had problems with keeping up with the pace and that has forced a lot of organizations to dissolve their businesses. There are employees and organizations that have been involved in unethical acts so as to keep up with the competition. However, competition is a norm in the business world and any organization that is operational is bound to face competition in its day to day activities. Wells Fargo Bank is one of the recent organizations that have suffered as a result of trying to keep up with the global speed. The employees were involved in unethical acts just to meet the set targets in their sales. Organizations should know that research plays a crucial role in looking for loopholes and solutions. There are different ways that Wells Fargo Bank can improve its retail services to its customers after the scandal. However, comprehensive research is a key tool in identifying the best way forward for the company. the research will not only help the company to know the ways that it can clear its name, the research will also help the organization to be a profit-making organization.

Research methods: Mixed methods

Quantitative method

Quantitative method will help in collecting data that will be used in knowing what the customers of Wells Fargo Bank feel about the bank and what they feel should be done. Under quantitative method, the use of questionnaires and survey will be employed (Mark, 2016). There are customers who might not be willing to verbally say about their take on the company’s involvement in unethical acts. To ensure that information from such customers is collected, questionnaires will be used. For the research to be effective and of benefit to the organization, all the involved and concerned parties will be involved. The quality of retail services cannot be improved without the involved of both the customers and the service providers. Though the company was quick to blame most of its junior employees, without the junior employees, the organization’s services will be jeopardized. The main objective of carrying out the research is to ensure that sanity is restored at Wells Fargo Bank. It is for this reason that most of the questions that will be in the questionnaires will be as open as they are supposed to be. The company has already suffered and it is the high time to know the best way to avoid what happened from taking place in future. The research team will use its resources to encourage more employees to participate in the research process. Questionnaires will be handed out to all customers who will be willing to take part in the exercise. Employees, on the other hand, will not be left behind; they will be provided with the questionnaires so as to give their views as well.

Qualitative method

The qualitative method tries to research on factors that can affect the quality of services that are provided by an organization or an institution. Such factors include academic qualifications, service demonstrations, and leadership. By conducting a research using a qualitative method, the research team is able to know if the leaders in place are qualified for the position and if the employees have met the required academic certifications. The best way to know if each and every person is suitable for his or her position in the organization is by going through the files of the employees and the management as well (Mark, 2016). One of the reasons why the employees were not meeting the goals of the organization might be associated with their qualifications. For an organization to be effective in its operations and to provide quality services to the customers, it must ensure that all employees have qualified for their respective positions. A company that is under the leadership of a leader who is not qualified to be in the position always suffers. By carrying out the research using the qualitative method it will be easy to identify any problem that might be related to the qualifications of the management as well as the employees. Qualitative and quantitative methods will play a big role in improving the quality of services offered to the retail customers. The two methods will provide enough information that will help in transforming the bank.

Research design

Quasi-experiment

The methods of research have been planned in such a way that each and every party involved has been alerted before the commencement of the research. The research methods have been applied in a way that they will not only provide information about the weaknesses of the bank but also provide solutions to the problem. A research process that does not provide solutions to a problem does not serve the purpose (USC Libraries, 2016). The main reason for carrying out a research is to ensure that effectiveness at the workplace is promoted. Research design plays a big role in looking at the methods used.

Apart from carrying out a research so as to identify problems, research design also helps in ensuring that the results are put into use. Quasi-experiment acts a measuring scale. It ensures that all laid down procedures were in line with the motive of the research. It also ensures that every method and tool was fully utilized to aid in gathering the intended data. Without gathering the accurate data, a research can be termed as a waste of time. A quasi-experiment comes in to ensure that a research was not a waste of time.

Targeted population

While carrying out any research it is better to have the targeted population in mind. The targeted population should consist of the interested parties and the people who the research will have an impact on. In the case, the research will focus more on the management of the bank, the employees, the customers, and the shareholder. The management of the company plays a big role in ensuring that the operations of the company are run smoothly and effectively. The main objective of carrying out the research is to help the management improve the quality of services offered at the bank (Burns, 2000). The management has been blamed for setting high goals to its employees and that is one of the reasons why the employees were involved in the unethical act. It is better for the management to be involved in the whole process of research. The shareholders have invested millions of their money in the bank and therefore their opinions and their take on the whole research process will be of great help to the research team

The employees have been the most affected in the recent scandal that befallen Wells Fargo Bank. They must be included in the research so as to deal with the problem in the proper way. The opinions of the employees will be required by the research team. The participation of the employees will also be required since they have been pointed out as the barriers of quality services at the Bank. The customers are the victims of the scandal and therefore their side of the story must be heard. Considering that the main objective of carrying out the research is to benefit the customers, the research must involve the bank customers.

Conclusion

Challenges are bound to be there in the business competitive world. Many organizations have been involved in scandals but that is not a big challenge as it may seem. The biggest challenge is failing to overcome the problems that face an organization. When an organization is faced with challenges it must have strategies in place that will help it in recovering. Carrying out a comprehensive research helps an organization to know where it went wrong and what it can do to correct its mistakes. Without research, it might be impossible for an organization to stand on its feet again since it has not identified the weaknesses that it is supposed to work on.
