Thesis Proposal (7 pages)

Assignment Instructions

This assignment requires you to write a proposal that states your research question and your research strategy for addressing it. You may refer to 2012 End of Program Manual, p. 7, and Appendix 1 for information from the source publication. However, you may use the following outline to describe your plan. Proposal will be 7 pages in length

Cover Sheet (standard for any academic assignment)

I.                    Introduction. This section provides background about the particular research topic, providing context for the reader and discussing why this topic presents a research “puzzle”.

II.                  Statement of the Problem. This section lays out the specific problem which leads the researcher to pose research questions and, in particular, one focused question that will be the cornerstone of the project. In this section, the writer will also include the points from his purpose statement stating how he proposes to address the question.

III.                Literature Review. (6 representative resources) This section provides a preliminary analysis of the other authors that have written on your research topic. It provides a broad overview of the primary arguments related to the topic and organizes the general views on the main aspects of the topic by theme, which could be the prevailing arguments or schools of thought, or commonly held beliefs that your particular topic may challenge. There should be at least  6 representative resources  to analyze for this abbreviated review.

IV.                Theoretical Framework. This section introduces the theories or models to be used in the study. If you have developed or located a model that you intend to use in the study, provide a clear explanation or diagram of it. Then provide your working hypothesis and the variables you intend to analyze.

V.                  Research Design. In this section, you will describe your research strategy to test the hypothesis and analyze the variable. If you are using data, describe how you will operationalize and collect data on your variables, and the analytic methods that you will use, noting potential biases and limitations to your research approach. You must also turn in IRB paperwork if you plan to do human research.  If you do not turn in properly completed IRB paperwork, you cannot do human research!!!!!! Reference List. Provide complete citations in proper Turabian format for the resources you have cited. Remember to hang indent.
