The essay "What's in a Name" written by Gates, discussed many aspects in our life nowadays. Gates mentioned problems, which are related to race or color in our present days. For instance, black people, immigrants, and people with specific religions. People commonly use different words in describing these people which in turn can affect their feelings and make them disappointed in their life. We live in a diverse world where we can find mixed of people from everywhere with different interests. Also, we should respect and treat them as normal people with no discrimination. This essay brought up lots of emotion when Mr. Wilson call the father with George, which is not his name. The essay did increase my understanding about the topic and raise my awareness toward these people. Also, the essay has a lot of values that people should keep in their mind. For example, calling everyone with his/her name and without underestimating them. In addition, we should respect their situation in life whether considering their positions or authority. Finally, there are many lessons in the essay that readers should benefit them and take into consideration in the life by respecting and showing peace in a good way.
