OL 125: Personal Development Plan – Setting Your Vision (Milestone One)
Student Name: Karen Keiper Date: 9-4-16
I have learned some new things about myself by taking the assessments that I have completed, thus far, during this course. I have learned that I have a type ENTJ personality, which is fairly accurate. I am self-confident in what I know, I am a straightforward kind of person, who tells it like it is. I use research and analytics to help make important decisions. I have, also, learned that, even though I feel like I am very productive, there are some areas that I can improve upon to be even more productive. The Locus of Control assessment just verified what I already feel-that your choices are yours alone. That you, and only you, are the keeper of your happiness and if something isn’t working, then it is up to you to make the decision to change whatever it is that you can change. I’ve learned that even though I feel my stress level is low compared to many others, there are factors in my life that have been increasing my stress level, which in turn will cause me to experience burnout. I feel that this is already starting to happen, as I have been getting sick more often than normal and I am more exhausted than I have ever been.
I have, also, been overlooked for two promotions in the last two years. My employer has not given me any feedback as to why, so I am left to guess. I feel I do not interview well, and that may be my issue. I tend to get nervous during interviews, even though I know I am more than qualified for the positions. I am hoping this development plan can provide me the steps I need to be able to step out of my comfort zone and ace any interview I may have in the future.
My goal for this plan is to be able to either achieve a promotion at my current place of employment, or to obtain a new and better position with another company, within the next year. From reading about how personal development plans are written and put to use, I am hoping it is the motivational tool I need to move forward in my career goals, as well as some personal goals I would like to set for myself (such as health and relationships).
