GRANT WRITING
Narrator: Welcome to the Week Three Podcast. This week we’re talking about the specifics of grant writing.
Narrator: Why are the specifics of grant writing important?
SME: There are many types of grants, from federal government grants to foundation grants. There are even individuals who provide grant opportunities. Because of that, many of the grant formats are different. It’s important to understand that even though the forms and formats may be different, the information requested is often the same. For that reason, it’s important to understand the similarities and differences in various grant applications.
Narrator: What key point should students focus on this week?
SME: This week is much more of a “how to” week. The assignments for this week give you the opportunity to review and study specific grant writing techniques. Once you begin applying for grants and gain experience doing this, you’ll develop your own styles. Until then, there’s nothing wrong with identifying best grant writing practices that have been established by others, and emulating them.
