Outline for the Diversity Management Proposal

1) Problem: The problem that I will be discussing is workplace harassment and discrimination.

a. The problem of workplace harassment and discrimination is a diversity issue since it affects a lot of organizations and it cuts across people of all gender. The problem is also likely to be experienced in a company including its branches even in other countries since it is a culture that is rooted in the company.

b. If this problem is not solved a number of numerous consequences may be faced including employee turnover, financial losses and legal lawsuits. Finding new workers to substitute those who have left will entail spending more money in the employment, training and educating the employees. This might be time consuming too. They might also face legal actions obliging them to pay the worker for the resulting damages. Additionally, it may get in the way with reputation of the company in the face of investors and customers.

c. An analysis of the factors contributing to the problem or opportunity should include answers to questions like:

i. This problem mostly affects the employees. The morale of the employees is reduced due to this problem.

ii. The problem affects the business most in the area of productivity. When the morale of the employees is reduced, the general productivity of the company will also go down.

iii. The problem of workplace discrimination and harassment started in the initial stages of employment. The recruitment process is based on the way in which their positions are advertised and how interviews are conducted employment conditions and terms is unfair, poor performances pay.

iv. The business implications are quite numerous. The problem may paint a bad picture about the company to the investors and customers. The problem will also make the business become less productive as the employees become less productive. The problem may also lower the profit margins of the business.

2) Solution: my proposed solution will help the company take advantage of this opportunity and concentrate on motivating their most valuable asset which is the human resource. The company will nurture its employees and avoid harassments that might lower their morale and productivity.

a. My proposal to the company to solve this problem is for them to engage in fair practices from their recruitment process. They should publicly advertise their positions for qualified individuals to apply. They should then select their candidates on basis of the most qualified. They should also put in place measures that make sure that employees are not sexually harassed.

b. My top three criteria for choosing this solution as the best one is because it is profitable, advantageous and most of all easy to implement. The solution will make the company become more profitable as the employee productivity improves, the employees will have the benefit of working in discrimination free environment and implementing this solution is easy. It does not come with any cost.

c. This solution might be objected by people who only want to employ their relatives and friends and the managers who want to take advantage of their juniors. To address this, I would make sure that there is an open channel to communicate any harassment in the company.

d. The people who need to be involved in the solution are the top level managers and the junior employees in general.

e. My solution will make this problem better by reducing the harassment and discrimination against employees and thus improving their morale and productivity.

f. The solution must be implemented now since the discrimination culture is deteriorating and it is affecting the employees and this will have a negative impact on the company if it goes on for long.

3) The plan:

a. The plan of action will include fair recruitment procedures and non discriminatory working environment.

b. The implementation of the plan will take three months. The first month will involve preparing the workers, the second teaching them the benefits of implementing the plan and the third one the actual implementation.

c. The resources required will include speakers to talk to the employees and they will be sourced from the outside.

d. The biggest challenge that has to be overcome is to ensure that all managers agree to the plan and this will be achieved by talking to them and showing them the benefits of the plan.

e. The success of the plan will be measured through employee feedback about the new working environment and also through reports of reduced harassment cases.

4) Conclusion:

a. Changing the discrimination culture in the company will be beneficial for the company as it will increase its productivity and profit margins

b. In conclusion, I would urge all the employees from the top level management to work together towards executing this plan as it will be beneficial for the company.
