Coffee Shop Game

The Coffee Shop Game gives you a chance to run a small business and see if you can maximize profit in 14 days. Turn up your speakers to get the full effect of the cheezy theme music!

Go to http://www.coolmath-games.com/0-coffee-shop to begin. Open the game and read the tutorial to understand how the game is run. Pay attention to the emojis above the people’s heads to know how they’re reacting to the coffee.

Keep in mind that the weather changes daily which will affect the demand for your product. Also, watch the prices they charge for various levels of ingredients. You might not always get a better unit price for buying in larger quantities. And, milk, sugar, and coffee spoil, so don’t order too much.

At the end of 14 days, you’ll get a report of how you did financially.

This game ran fine on a Mac running OS X (Yosemite). If you encounter any problems on Windows-based devices, go the library or find one that works. Please don’t call me for technical support.

Assignment: Answer these questions

1. What was your initial strategy?

2. How did that strategy change over time?

3. What was the impact of weather on sales?

Finally, do a Screen Capture of your final results and include it with your assignment. It should look something like this (next page):

Notice the total cash ($147.20) in the top left corner and profit ($117.20). I want to see those two figures as well as the Reputation indicator in the bottom.

By the way, I did this quickly, so you should have no trouble beating $117.20.

The assignment is worth 25 points and is due Midnight, Monday September 12. Email it to me at [email protected]. The person with the highest profit will receive 5 bonus points. But you must turn in this screen shot to qualify.
