Abstract

The McKesson's company is a pharmaceutical distribution supply chain, with medical supplies, equipment and health care services. This is a company that will meet the needs and challenges of healthcare while helping you eliminate tomorrow's challenges.

Benefits and Compensation

McKesson has a retirement package in place for their employees that seems to be well thought out. Employees can take advantage of the profit sharing investment plan which is a 401k, and can also take advantage of the employee stock purchase plan. The salaries range from $22,000 -126,000 depending on your position. Below are a few salaries and job titles.

· Accounts Receivable Specialist $22,184 - $39,885

· Material Handler $23,411 - $36,374

· Operations Supervisor $40,017 - $69,531

· Software Engineer $56,327 - $126,787

The bonus salaries run on average from $6,000-$15,00 annually and the commission for this company after 20 years of service is about 25,000. Although McKesson seems to be on average with salaries and compensation they were in the news about their compensation practices for executives. The McKesson CEO in 2012 had a total compensation of $131 million which was rejected by shareholders by 78 percent. There was another incident in Florida, where a worker expressed some compensation concerns at a meeting about the low pay in the distribution center there and that they were unable to get health care nor participate in the 401(k) plan. It seems as though the person in question was fired behind his concerns and the National Labor Relations Board got involved and had a judge to order that the company reinstate him, which has not happened as of yet.

Business Leadership and Strategy

McKesson business ideas were built on development in society and human activities in which to make money and build on the infrastructure. When the company was founded in 1833 it was from an idea that they could bring therapeutic drugs and chemicals on sailing ships. In 1990 McKesson was successful at getting other smaller companies to merge with them so that they would not have to depend on the larger companies and this acquisition strategy allowed them to get to the top and remain there today. Another good business strategy was buying Automated Healthcare, and General Medical who are distributors of medical/surgical supplies in 1993. In order to have good business strategies you have to include things such as

· enterprise intelligence

· prospective modeling

· area organization partnerships

· improvement efforts

· Share visions

It is important to any business that you involve the people that do the work in order to keep your process flowing. Keeping your staff well trained on all system and system processes is a sure way to stay on top.
