August 30th, 2016
To: Company CEO
Subject: Proposal to Research and Make Recommendations on the Feasibility of Venturing in Kenya Oil Industry
The company has experienced and immense growth and it is for this reason that strategies should be laid down to help the company invest beyond the country’s borders. There are different oil producing countries that the company can invest in; however, Kenya stands as the best country to invest in (Energy Regulatory Commission, 2016). This proposal will give more details about Kenya and its oil industry.
Problems
One of the challenges facing Kenya oil industry is stiff competition. Oil in Kenya was discovered a few years ago. There are many companies that are interested in this precious commodity and some of the companies would do anything within their power to get an opportunity to invest in the oil industry in Kenya. Kenya oil market has been dominated by cartels for so long and that makes it difficult for international markets to genuinely get permits to work in Kenya (International Monetary Fund, 2016).
Country overview
Kenya is one of the fastest developing economies globally. The country has been depending on exported oil and this will be a good opportunity for the country to start processing its own oil. Since the 2013 elections, Kenya has been politically stable and peaceful and therefore the environment is suitable for business (Kenya Investment Authority, 2016).

Topics to investigate
I plan to answer the following questions:
1. What information does RAC Inc. need to know about Kenyan culture, politics, economy, and workforce to be successful?
• Culture- Kenyan culture is different from America’s culture. However, Kenyans are welcoming and loving.
• Politics- The current political situation in Kenya is business friendly.
• Economics- The economy of Kenya is stable and the shilling has been strong against the dollar (The World Bank, 2013).
• Workforce- Kenya has a hardworking population, as a matter of fact; there are a lot of Kenyans who work in the United States.
2. How should the company adapt its business practices to succeed in Kenya?
• Competition- There is stiff competition in Kenyan oil industry but with the resources at the company’s disposal the company will stand the competition.
• Location- The Company intends to conduct its business in Turkana where the mining of the oil will be taking place.
• Slate tablet: The Company does not need to change its strategies; they will effectively work in the country.
3. What other issues may RAC Inc. have by introducing their product in Kenya?
• Business culture- Business culture will not have an effect on the operations of the company since Kenya and America’s business cultures are almost similar.
• Marketing- There are a lot of marketing platforms in Kenya and therefore marketing will not be an issue.
• Technology- Kenya is advanced technologically; however, the company will carry its resources with it to ensure everything goes as planned.
• Integration- Kenyan population is welcoming and friendly and therefore it will not take much time for the company to integrate with the residents.
