The self-image management is very important. When you meet someone first time, the impression that you left will be very forceful. I not going to talk about the important of good impression on your boss but the accent when talking. For example, if someone use British English to talk with you and be your friend. If someday he switch to American English, even if he can speck very well, but you will still feel strange or uncomfortable. The self-image is exactly same which means is hard to change someone's impression. Thus, self-image is very important. Everyone has multiple identities, we must switch our image once we change identities. Think about this, a person dress in a suit and tie and go to play basketball or a person wear sports clothes and make a speech, is that OK?

1) When it comes to managing our own self image, it means that is the that we are viewed by others around us. In certain situations, people have to act accordingly to the situation infront of them. When I am around my friends, I can act how I want, but when I am at work I have to act professional because is there.
2) Managing multiple identities can be very tricky to deal with. If I have to ask parents for a favor, it needs to be reasonable so that they believe that I am responsible. But if I ask my friends for a favor, they can know the real reason I am asking for that favor, and I dont have to act as responsible to them because they are my friends

1) Based on what our book tells us and in the lectures we have learned that self management is multifaceted, sometimes a person will have the ability to step outside of themselves to see how others view things and can adapt accordingly. There is also the other end of the spectrum were a person can choose to speak or think freely from the reigns of the majority. There can be many reasons as to why it is important to manage your self image for example, whenever I worked in a corporate restaurant I was taught to speak the language, have a dress code, and how to succeed there. In order for the restaurant and I to do well and make money it was necessary for me to adapt to the work environment.
2) To relate this to working in a corporate restaurant, there we certain aspects of my personality I had to develop. I had to be able to serve, stay knowledgeable about the product being sold and the incoming changes to the menus, a team player, by this I mean knowing how to work with each person there, a motivational crutch at times, a cheerleader, and so on. These are all different identities I might or might not have had before I started working there to ensure I could communicate when prompted.

An image is why people act the way they do. What does it mean to manage our own image. Managing our own image means knowing what internal behaviors effect our behaviors. Internal behaviors are the things we can control. Sometimes we are unstable and that means we are not our true self. We also have controllability to manage our image. Managing our image is important for example, we want professors to see us as professional students, friends to see us as reliable friends, and for everyone else to see us as intelligent people and someone who has high self-esteem. Multiple identities affect the way we communicate because to our families that we do not see very much we have a way we behave. Also some people have different identities through social media. This can cause communication problems and problems with relationships.
