Workplace Etiquette

So I said to Roger, “If the egg’s in your pocket, then where are your keys?”

[laughs]

“And that was just for starters. So then I said, now Roger, so I said – “

“Folks, sorry, but I’ve got a deadline and this is just a little, you know, distracting.”

“Oh, you want my iPod? I have noise-reducing earplugs.”

“No. Thanks. I just – I mean, don’t you all have the same deadline?”

“Yes, but I needed a break. I am starving.”

“What is that anyway?”

“This is a homemade hot pocket I invented myself. You see the secret’s in the anchovies, the beans, garlic, lots of garlic. Do you want some?”

“That’s what I’ve been smelling. No I just want to – “

“Meet your deadline. Regina, Regina, always have your single mom nose to the grindstone.”

“Look who’s talking. You’re here and it’s your day off.”

“What day off?”

“I assumed you were off because, you know, what you’re wearing.”

“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?”

“Nothing, unless you’re the good will ambassador of, I don’t know, Goodwill.”

[laughs]

“Yo, I am going to – Mr. What Not to Wear – seriously going to staple your boy!”

“Okay, okay!”

“Hey, I’m serious. This deadline – is that my stapler?”

“No. I don’t know. Maybe. Does yours say Regina on it?”

“Can I have it back? I’ve been looking for it.”

“Please.”

“Now, can you all just – what are you doing in my desk John?”

“Looking for mints.”

“You could’ve asked.”

“Why he never does.”

“You guys wouldn’t believe the stuff I find in these desks. I’ll owe you. Do you want one?”

“Nah.”

“Yeah I want one.”

“Yeah.”

“Thanks.”

“Yup.”

Identify three behaviors of Regina’s coworkers that distracted her from her work. Identify three behaviors that were disrespectful or immature. If you were Regina, what would you have said or done? Why?
