IDENTITY COMPASS PREWRITING PROJECT
In the center of a blank sheet of paper, draw or print out a picture of a compass. Instead of the four cardinal points (North, South East, and West), write down four identity markers specific to you. For the four sub-cardinal points (Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast), write down four values related to one or more of your four identity markers. Identity markers are words or short phrases that can fill in the statement “I am_____.” i.e: student, athlete, artist, etc. Once you’ve established the four that best define you, reflect on some values that are either derived from or correspond to those specific identity markers. (For example, if “artist” is one of your identity markers, “creativity” could be one of your values.)
