15 to 15 points

Paragraph is original and contains a clear definition of historical context. If outside sources are used, they are clearly cited in current Turabian format.

12 to 14 points

Paragraph is original and contains some definition of historical context but is missing some details or lacks evidence of full understanding. If outside sources are used, there is some attempt at citation in current Turabian format.

8 to 11 points

Paragraph is original and contains a basic definition of historical context. There are significant misunderstandings of the term. If outside sources are used, they are not cited adequately in current Turabian format.

0 to 7 points

Paragraph shows little to no understanding of the definition of historical context. There is no attempt to reference any outside sources.

Content (Analysis of Historical Context/Artwork)

15 to 15 points

Paragraph is original and contains a full analysis of the historical context of the artwork.

12 to 14 points

Paragraph is original and contains some basic analysis of the historical context of the artwork, but is missing some aspect or detail.

8 to 11 points

Paragraph is original and contains some mention of the historical context of the artwork. There are significant omissions of the historical context or misunderstanding of the term.

0 to 7 points

Paragraph contains only a mention of when the artwork was created or does not show a clear understanding of the historical context.

Submission reflects standards of grammar, mechanics, and style with no more than 2 errors. Paragraphs are organized with only minor errors. Definition paragraph contains at least 55 words.

5 to 6 points

Submission reflects basic understanding of grammar, mechanics, and style with no more than 3 errors. Contains significant issues with paragraph structure. Definition paragraph contains at least 50 words.

0 to 4 points

Submission contains more than 4 errors in grammar, mechanics, style, and spelling. Organization and structure detract from message of paragraphs. Definition paragraph contains less than 50 words.
