Introduction
INNOVATION SYSTEM IN DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS
The first company is “COCO-COLA.” This is a very big brand name, and the company is running its business in many different countries of the world. There are different trends in innovation in this company as innovation in products, innovation in marketing strategy, innovation in the sustainability, and innovation in the culture. The first one is innovation in product as the company is making innovation in packaging. Thermal labels are introduced for making the Europeans drink cool, innovation in marketing refers to real-time marketing as inside coca cola Brazil newsroom at Rio 2016. Sustainability means the circular economy Bea Perez focus on shaping the future of consumption. The innovation in culture means coke music live stream is a major hit with fans and artists (Company et al., 2016).
Nestle is another very big name, and they are introducing a wide variety of products and services. Henri@Nestle opens innovation platform which has went live. The aim of this platform is to increase the quality and the speed of innovative solution which properly responds to social and business challenges, thus it is open to work worldwide. The environment and the culture of this company always support innovation as Henri@Nestlé will allow entrepreneurs to work as a collaborative partner alongside the dedicated team of Nestle.
The vice president of social and digital media from Nestle, Mr. Pete Blackshaw, said, “Henri@Nestlé will be the company’s flagship global collaboration program and serves as a catalyst for speed, transparency and cutting red tape.” ("Innovation", 2016).
Asian paint under Forbes comes under the list of the ten most innovative countries of the world. The strategies and the people are always ready for innovation in this country. The company is trying to involve their employees in formal training which support motivation. Therefore, in this company, it is seen that the employees are trained concerning knowledge, inspiration, Six Sigma tools for statistical analysis, and for the resolution of problems and improvement of process DOE tools. Through innovation, the company developed some unique products.
With the help of the principles of innovation, the development and commercialization of some processes and the product’s uniqueness became possible which are as follows:
· Monocots with high resistence of UV
· Solid painting
· For plastic application a system of primeless basecoat
· Primer with pigmentation highly special
· Industry clearcoat for high perfromance ("Asian Paints - Innovations & Excellence", 2016).
1. CAPITALIZE ON INNOVATION AND INTRAPRENEURSHIP
The main objective of the organization is to build new businesses which are going to tackle key business challenges which are being faced by Coca Cola or even their partners through promoting the efficiency of their suppliers, locating efficient and effective workers, influencing the E-commerce or engaging more effectively with their customers. The company is capitalizing on innovation because the company seeks to grab new opportunities and produce not only additional values relating to the company for customers or industry as a whole. Before starting the founder program, this company experienced different models which starts with the Employees as an Intrepreneurial, after that recruitment of qualified entrepreneurs (Company et al., 2016).
Figure 1 innovation is good
(Company et al., 2016).
Many of the big companies are promoting intrapreneurship and capitalizing their innovation within the organization. The same practice is being adopted by Nestle and Asian Paints. Their employees are engaged to spend their time to find out new innovative ideas apart from their routine job activities. Nestle and Asian paints both are well known for their effort in this regard. Hence these are the best performing companies in the world in today’s business. Asian paints and Nestle are keen to get new ideas and therefore, they provide a culture of intrapreneurship to their employees to get them engaged in finding new ideas. Both of these companies’ people have entrepreneurship wired into their DNA and allow promoting new ideas. Both of the companies always support their employees for giving new idea even if it is wrong (Balmaekers, 2014)
2. PROCESS THAT STIFLE INNOVATION AND INTRAPRENEURSHIP
The process of promoting innovation is always very important for the organization’s success. Thus, there are different ways through which the innovation does not take place in the organization such as getting too much suspicion about the new ideas. Invoking the history with bad impact can also affect the innovation in the organization. Free time should be given to the employees of the organization to let them think in an innovative way. If people are too busy, it will stifle the innovation in the organization. Demotivating the people who gave innovative ideas within the firm can also stop the firm from adopting to the strategies related to innovation. Most of the firms are interested in adopting innovative strategies and allow their employees to think in an innovative way but yet there are some examples where most of the organization does not want to do experiments with innovative ideas. All of the above things can stifle innovation within the organization.
Intrapreneurship sets the context of innovation. It provides the infrastructure which will be required for sustaining the innovation over a period. If the organization is not building the environment which supports and sustains the innovation, this is going to stifle Intrapreneurship. The other reason is if new talent is not treated properly, then change is not accelerated properly within the firm. All of these conditions can become the major cause of stifling innovation and Intrapreneurship (Bolton, 2015).
3. FOSTER A CULTURE OF INNOVATION IN AN ORGANIZATION
As an innovation architect, there are different ways which can help in fostering the culture of innovation within the organization.
a) Be on purpose: for fostering the culture of innovation in the organization, it is important to give more time to think and clarifying the motivating values and compelling the purpose individually and collectively.
b) Being an initial with the innovation intent: frame the way in which the change can be adapted and after thinking something extraordinary, take the initiative for introducing this.
c) Creating a structure for unstructured time: as the innovation architect, it is important to build the culture in which the time should get structured from the unstructured framework to think more precisely upon innovation.
d) Risk Experimentation: building the culture in which the leader must have the courage to accelerate through failure.
e) Reflect and synthesize: setting aside the time for integration and synthesis.
f) Giving worthless rewards: annual innovation award is not enough for catalyzing a culture of innovation. It can be stated that formal rewards are good for the short term but they fail in keeping people engaged all the time. Thus, it is important to build the culture through which innovation can be promoted by giving the worthless rewards which allow people to think in a more innovative way.
All of these aspects can be considered for creating the innovative culture within the firm as the innovation can increase not only the market share but also give the benefit of competitive advantage ("The Heart of Innovation: How to Foster a Culture of Innovation", 2015).
CONCLUSION
Innovation can be defined as the procedure which is being adopted by the different firm for introducing new and unique ideas. Many of the organizations in today’s global world gaining the competitive advantage and gaining large market share are adopting different strategies based on innovation. Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Asians paints are adopting innovation strategies in different sectors of their organization for boosting their sales and generating more profit. Thus, it is important to create a culture in the organization which can foster the innovation with the firm such as by being initial, giving worthless rewards, etc. Innovation can provide benefit to the firm in many different aspects if the proper innovative culture has been created by the innovation architect.
