• Explain genre theory and, using Chapter 4 of the text as a reference, thoroughly describe the conventions and attributes of your selected genre.

Science fiction is a genre that focuses on new discoveries, zombies, and robots other planets, the moon and other advance in technology and even behaviors not familiar to the human being such as possessing powers (Roberts, 2006). The genre concentrates on things that the people have to imagine and assume that they exist. Science fiction movies depend on scientific facts, nature and also scientific theories. The convention of scientific convention includes setting, film techniques, narrative element, and symbolism. Setting this is the period and the place that the film is about it can be the previous years or many years to come. It makes the audience think about the movie in those times and not compare with the actual time. The place could be in another world, the moon or other planets. The film techniques, this is the type of shots that are taken during the shooting the techniques are important because they make the film to appear real and flow with the movie. Narrative content is the use of the technology invention such as a robot that is functioning like a normal human being. (Sanders, 2008)It is also about the things happening in the film the problems, the challenges amongst other situations.

• Identify a feature-length film that fits this genre and provides a basic summary of the movie. As you develop this summary, remember the differences between a film’s story and a film’s plot and how these differences can lead to the inclusion of genre elements.

Planet of apes is the film I will focus on. It is a science fiction. .The drug that helps in healing brain disorder the story is now where the knowledge of the Apes is put into test and that of the human being. The chimpanzee is carefully observed as he is given the task of lurker’s tower he is supposed to move the tower from peg to peg without placing the larger block on the small one. She fails to complete the puzzle then they gave her ALZ 112 gene therapy which enables the brain to create its cell to repair its self. In biology, this is called neurogenesis. The therapy can be used to treat the wide range of brain disorder. They are seeking for the human trial to the administering of the drug. The ape goes wild and causes the commotion in the company while the board meeting was proceeding the scientist discover that the chimpanzee has personality and attachment. The chimpanzee was pregnant, and she was not aggressive rather she was protective. Franklin gives will the baby chimp to stay with it for a few days. Will goes home with to live with the ape together with his father who has a mental disorder. They name him scissor by 18 months he was signing up to 24 words by 18 months he was completing by three years he could complete the tower and play chess. When the condition of his father deteriorates, he administers the drug, and his father responds positively. Scissor is taken for walks, and he protects the father to scissor when he was harassed. They take him to control unit where he has a hard time relating with another chimpanzee. When scissor is taken in the cage, the chimp is mad at him at him, this time, Will is working on the legal papers from the court to have scissor back home. Three months later Will goes to pick him from the zoo Scissor turns down the freedom of going home opting to remain with the others. He starts to cry showing emotion and also appoint that he

As part of the observation, scissor whose mother passed the gene of the drug that had been administered to her during pregnancy grows up being very smart he can complete puzzles, play chess, use gestures. When the health of will father worsens he decide to put the drug into test and the drug works positively on the father.

Another example of how the convention expands the boundaries is of the intelligence in scissor he escaped the zoo, stole the drug from Will’s room and went back to the zoo where he destroys the containers with the drug, and they inhale, then they start understanding that the zoo is not their native home which they later successfully planned and stormed out, went to the company and destroyed it.
