Learning Team: Evaluating Financial Statements
Purpose of Assignment
This LT project allows the students to construct two balance sheets and two income statements to understand how a business uses financial statements to operate. Then various financial ratios are calculated from other financials to allow the students to quickly see and compare how well a company is doing. Chapter 5 involves the calculating of interest rates, present value, and future value, which will help with understanding TVM for a business or for personal use. Finally, the LT is to construct a loan amortization schedule so they can have the concept of borrowing money with interest rates and time involved. And research will be completed online for two similar companies. All of these functions will assist the students for the Week 5 Individual Signature Assignment and the use of an Excel Workbook will assist for those who need further experience in this area.
