Example 1

1.Raja says that General Electric Co. producing their ultrasound machines not for the purpose of defining a sex of a fetus. Moreover, he ensures that people cannot use their machines for determination of a gender and a company shows a position of disapproval of such a use (Ultrasound Machines, India, China, and a Skewed Sex Ratio 1). Raja should weigh other capabilities and opportunities of ultrasound machines and explain to people that they should use them for some other purposes such as viewing the inside of a person in order to understand whether a person has problems with health and to find roots of that problem.

2. There are two key stakeholders: Indian outsourcing giant Wipro Ltd. and Erbis Engineering Co., the medical-equipment distributor in India. Wipro is interesting into the continuation of a successful work of GE because Wipro will get a profit. Likewise, Erbis Engineering Co. wants GE to continue their work, but they do not care about moral aspects of the case, their main purpose is getting a profit. Wipro wants to help GE to solve the problem in a proper way, and prove that the company cannot control ways that doctors are using ultrasound machines.

3. If I were Raja I would recommend him to continue the work that the company is doing. The situation that is taking place in India is not the fault of GE. Doctors that are using ultrasound machines in order to identify the sex of a fetus should be punished, but not the company. GE is producing ultrasound machines in order to help people to find solutions and roots to their problem with a health. Therefore, Raja should explain that fact in the court and the authority should take measures and prohibit doctors from using ultrasound machines for sex determination.

4. Likewise, there is a need for Raja to explain to customers that ultrasound machines are able to do more than just identifying a sex of a fetus. For instance, Raja can make a campaign that will show people all the opportunities and benefits of ultrasound machines. There should be a promotion of a proper use of ultrasound machines, so people will use all of their advantages. Moreover, Raja can create a social advertising that will show people all the negative impact of the use of ultrasound machines for sex determination.

5. The network is those platforms that provide a values exchange between different groups of people. A successful network strategy will help a company to develop, and there will be an effective cooperation of all the groups of people that are taking part in the process of development of a company. For instance, Raja can explain to doctors how they should use ultrasound machines, so that will be proper to moral norms and values. In a result, GE will solve the problem of abortion and doctors will not be considered as those who cause the problem.

6. The ecosystem includes all the organisms that are living in the world. The business ecosystem includes those individuals that are connected to the company such as employees as well as customers. To make the business ecosystem of GE healthy Raja should take actions in order to prevent the improper use of ultrasound machines. All the members of the business ecosystem should get benefits from the work of the company, and the working process of the company cannot do any harm to the society. Therefore, to make a business ecosystem of GE a perfect one Raja should solve the problem of abortion and show that the company wants to help people to find solutions to their health problems.

Example 2

1. From my view, Raja should think about the situations in different ways. First of all, although the selling of ultrasound machines brought a serious social issue to India that the abortion of female fetuses showed an incresed trends for many years. We could not deny that the ultrasound machines are necessary for pregnant women. These machines have lots of benefits and make childbirth safer. I think the most important considerations for Raja to weigh is the relationship with India’s government and the doctors in Indian clinics. These three parts need to reach an open and fair agreement about how to avoid the gender discrimination and maximize the protection of the fetus. They need not only work together but also supervise each other.

2. The key stakeholder groups should include the investors, employees, customers, suppliers, and community. From this case, I think General Electric Co., GE’s cooperative partner Wipro, Indian government, Indian clinics and customers of ultrasound machines should be the key stakeholders. GE and Wipro take India as an important market for selling. Indian goverment think the abusing of ultrasound machines is the key reason of the high percentage abortion of female fetuses. Indian clinics earn profits by buying the machines from GE. The customers use the machine because they do the sex-selection tests and has a traditional perspective and discrimination about gender.

3. From product economics perspective, I would like to recommend Raja to set up a more reliable and stable relationship with Indian government and the doctors in clinics. They need to build a more rigorous mechanism and agreement about the abusing of ultrasound machines. Moreover, he also need emphasizes the important and necessities of using ultransound machines. For example, it ensure a safety for both pregnant women and their babies. He needs try to avoid the negative impacts that were brought by ultrasound machines, emphasis the diversity functions of these machines.

4. From customer economics perspective, I would like to recommend Raja ensure that the producing of ultrasound machines meet the demands and requirements from customers. Moreover, he also need ensuring that customers comply with Indian law. For example, they stress emphatically to customers and society that the machines are not to be used for sex determination. It also has educated its sales force about the regulatory regime, demanded its own affidavits from customers that they will not use the machines for sex selection, and followed up with periodic audits.

5. From network economics perspective, it reflects value exchange between different subjects under this network. First of all, GE and Indian government should set an actively cooperation, spread the positive functions by using ultrasound machines. For example, they have broad benefits and make childbirth safer. As the machines become more available, women can avoid making long trips into cities where healthcare typically is more expensive. In addition, GE should ensure that the ultrasound machines must register with the local government and provide an affidavit that it will not conduct sex selection. Those guarantees will ensure the safety of the products use and attract more and more customers.

6. From business eco- system perspective, I would like to recommend and appeal every member under the business eco-system envisage the using and function of ultrasound machines. It is not used for sex selection and determination, and not the root cause of female feticide in India. I also suggeted to set up a strict rules and punishments about the abusing of ultrasound machines. Any clinic that has an ultrasound machine must register with the local government and strictly obey and comply the law. Last but not least, what is important and really need is a change in mindsets. A lot of education about gender equality to society should be done by government. The situation could change only the gender discrimination has changed.
