Steve:
Plan
In order to implement an idea a person or group has to have a plan. This happens to be the first step of the 5 P’s, and I believe that it is the most important one. Without a plan it is difficult to put that idea into motion. The same thing applies to having a product that will be potentially lucrative there has to be a plan in place for that product to become successful. A plan requires a set of steps that a company is going to follow, (Saylor Academy Open Textbooks, n.d.) This concept requires more of a perspective of art. A strategic planner needs to be able to visualize a plan from an artistic manner. They need to recognize all of the moving parts, and be able to piece them all together creating a master piece of a plan.

Strategic planning is the organizational management activity for defining the long-term plans, strategy, and direction. The set management objective, take a strategic decision and create a blueprint for the future. Vision and mission statement are created for employees, customers, and other stockholders of the company. It reflects the company’s values, core purpose, identity, and principles of the business. I have selected the vision statement of General Motors that is a more effective statement. The vision statement is, “GM’s vision is to be the world leader in transportation products and related services. We will earn our customers’ enthusiasm through continuous improvement driven by the integrity, teamwork, and innovation of GM people” (Elizabeth, 2012).
The vision is very impressive and attractive that describes the core business values. It focuses on the customers and their demands to meet their satisfaction. The customer satisfaction plays an important role in the success of every business, and it is the most effective statement that focused on the customers’ needs and innovative product development. The vision statement inspires and motivates customers and ensures that each component of the strategic management process is aligned to the organization’s long-term goals. It indicates that the company has invested in the technological innovation and manufacture the most innovative vehicle those contain modern features. The employees are focused on important assets of the organization, and it has created ethical corporate culture. It has enhanced the integrity, respect, honesty, and mutual trust in the organizational culture (General Motors, 2016).
I have chosen the mission statement of Albertsons Grocery Store Company. It is “to create a shopping experience that pleases our customers; a workplace that creates opportunities and a great working environment for our associates; and a business that achieves financial success” (Minda, 2013). I think it’s an ineffective mission statement and it covers only limited information. The company is a chain of grocery stores that operates warehouse stores, food drug store, and superstores in the U.S. However, the mission statement is not containing the company information and its function, core responsibilities, and other business activities. It is not clear what the company does and how it is operating the business functions. The employees’ contribution is not highlighted in the mission statement that plays an important role in achieving the company objective.
