Concept 4:

The creative methods used for this concept generation is the six key. The first two questions are about the quality of the materials basing on the “HOQ”. The first one is about the categories of customers who use DC power cord (product), because that will assist for providing all characteristics and features in the product that help them to use it easily. In other words, when recognizing the categories of users. The product (cable) can be efficient and appropriate with them and will be operated with them for long time. Also, the material and shape are very important points help to provide the requirements of many categories of the customers. Three important points should be mentioned before customizing the product: Protection, fixing the cord, and safety processes. Despite the qualification and features of the power charger, there are a lot of probabilities and opportunities of this cord to be broken or damaged. Therefore, it is important to provide the instructions and recommendations that assist customers to protect their chargers and fix them in case of break. Also, the most important point is to insure the life of the customers.

1-What categories of customers are used to have a charger’s cables?

Aggressive, smart, angry, random, and many other kinds of people use chargers’ cables. Aggressive and angry people are not wise while using their cables. They are highly exposed to cut their cords. In fact, that increases the chances of cords to be cut or damaged. Also, random people are monthly forced to buy new chargers because they are not used to place their chargers’ cables in appropriate places. Their cables, for instance, may be thrown anywhere (in the chicken, their pets’ teeth or beside sharp tools) so that their cables will be broken or damaged more than others. Unfortunately, some people do not read the instructions of their cables before usage. Otherwise, they are not clearly professional with the appropriate way of using chargers.

2-What kind of materials is used to make a good quality charger?

Based on the variety of categories of customers behave with chargers and because of the importance of the quality of materials as in “HOQ”, the best kind of materials should be natural rubber (For ouster’s insulator) and copper (for inner part) metal. These metals reduce the probabilities of damage of cables. Otherwise, these metals should cover all customers’ requirements, such as heat resistance, conductivity, weight, and easiness to use. Actually, it is so hard to find that material with good flexibility and heat resistance. Based on “Properties of Rubber-a Buyer and Designer's Guide,” rubber has a good strength and sustains against outer conditions or effects. In spite of the quality of strengths and sustains of other materials like iron, steel, or aluminum, it is considered to be the best because it has a good flexibility and heat resistance, and it is easy to be used so that users are not exposed to be hurt while touching their cords. Otherwise, aluminum, iron, and other strong metals are exposed to many kinds of damages, such as rust, corrosion, or patina. In other hand, copper is the best metal used for the inner part. In fact, beside its strength, it is a good and safe conductor for electricity. Also, it is recycle so that it does not loss most of its qualities and properties (Properties and Uses). In summary, the main reason of choosing these materials is that they cover all prosperities that could make the charger’s cables work for longevity even though they are not the best in some properties.

3-What are the safety processes the customers should follow?

Based on the customer’s requirements as mentioned in “HOQ,” the safety of the product is very important factor. Unwise usage of charges may lead to some dangerous results, such as electricity shock, fire flame, or cable hurts. Therefore, Rubber can be used as a good electrical insulator and has a good resistance of water. At time rubber is good as electrical insulator, it has an unsatisfied flame resistance so that customers should not expose there cables to any source of heat and use some heat resistance materials to cover and protect the cable. But these materials also should not be a good conductor because that may lead to electrical shock. Also, customers should put their cables far from their kids or pets for safety.

4-Why the spiral cable is better than the straight one?

This question is very important because the shape of the cable and some other requirements are mentioned in the “HOQ”. In fact, when cables are spiral and thick that will provide some properties for the cable. For example, it will be easy to be held and controlled. Also, it will not be able to snarl with other cables. The cable will have a less risk of reaching to high level of voltage, and that will save the temperature of the cable from increasing or decreasing. Also, the cable will be special that let people not facing any hardness to find their cables if joint with another cable.

5-How can I protect my cable to be work for long while?

In order to protect the cable, there is a list of instructions:

· Being wish when plugging in/out your cable because, aggressive users will reduce the longevity of this product.

· Prohibit exposing cables to outside weather or conditions because that may accidentally lead to some harmful reactions between external environments and cables substances. Therefore, the quality of the material will be lw

· Using ironic springs to be attached around the cord, and sometimes aluminum and plastic can be a good cover for the cable.

· Making sure from the voltage of the wall (600 V DC, 750 V DC ,1, 200 V DC ,1,500 V DC, or 3 kV DC) to save its electrical conductivity

· Keeping the cables and adapter on the smooth surface and not be free. In fact, that will make it easy for usage.

6-How can we fix the cables when expose to any breaks or cut?

In order to fix the cable in case of cut:

· Underground connector. Use a splice block to fix a severed cable.

· Join the wires. Insert the wires into the splice block connectors, making sure the colors match up, then tighten the screws.

· Seal the connection. Slide the heat-shrink tube over the connector

· For insulator: Normal rubber that covered around the conductor (used to resist heat insulate the electricity flax that is conducted by copper).

· For conductor: Copper is used to conduct electricity and its qualified for long time because it has a good electrical resistance.

· For Shape: it is spiral and thick in order to resist breaks or any external accidents.

· This cable (consist of rubber and copper) connected to the plug and have more thick part that located between the plug and cable.

· The thick part: is important to be immediately before the plug because this area is exposed to break more than other areas.
