Hardware/Software Requirements for Hack Computer

There are several hardware and software components that are required for the hack computer. The computer will need a memory device which receives data from some input and sends it, in turn, to some output device. The concept is closely related to the idea of a stored program. It assists the computer memory to store not only the data that it manipulates but also the instructions that it uses to process information.

An arithmetic logging unit is another core component. It's meant to perform the arithmetic of low level and logical operations in the computer. An example is a typical arithmetic logic unit adding two digits, manipulation of a part of a piece data or so on.

The system also requires a registers since the design of the system is to carry the operations at a very fast rate. A register stores the information locally to boost the speed and performance of the CPU. The CPU hence will need to get an installation with the high registers of high speed that is capable of holding a single word per each cycle. The registers get further divided into addressing registers, data registers, and program counter registers.

Data registers provide short-term memory services to the CPU. When executing a simple task, the value must be computed and stored in the CPU to be remembered, which is done in the register. The addressing registers store data that the computer has to access continually, as it reads and writes. The information to be obtained is specified, and the address is sent. The last register is the program counter register, which keeps the address that is responsible for the memories of the next programs to be performed on the task line.

A control unit is where the decoding of the instruction is done. The information that gets presented, as computer instruction, is given in a binary form which is in units of 64, 32 and 16 bits wide and must be decoded. The wiring system is connected directly between the output of the program counter (PC) and the address input of the ROM chip.

Memory maps help in the interaction between their corresponding I/O devices through peripheral logic that is located on the computer. This invention facilitates a smooth interaction with the user and is such an important component.

A memory chip is necessary for the hack platform which is a package consisting of three lower-level chips. The three chips are the screen, keyboard, and RAM 16K. The user on the other side must have the ability to see the single logical address space. The address space spans a location range from 0 to 24576.

The screen chip for the computer can initiate interaction on a black-and-white screen which is organized with 512 pixels and 256 rows. The interfacing with the physical screen is done through a chip which has a similar behavior as a conventional memory, meaning that it is able to read and write. There is exact uniqueness in this mode of interaction.

Most of these features may look similar to the standard computer but these properties make the hack computer unique compared to the others.

A VGA port and cable will be needed to connect the monitor to the VGA equipment. A Dell 17 Inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor E176FP could be purchased from Discount Electronics (see link below). The VGA monitor would cost us about $40.00 and the cable roughly $6.50. A PS/2 keyboard is the most suitable for this project. A Standard PS/2 Keyboard Combo could be purchased from Jet.com. The PS/2 keyboard and its cable could cost a total of $25.00. Also, the project will need the Quartus II software version 13.1 that supports several device families: cyclone IV, cyclone V, MAX II, MAX III and MAX V to program the FPGA which is free to download.
