Project Overview

For your course project, you will be researching an organization of your choice and applying key concepts that you are learning to that organization. You will begin by providing an overview of the organization and then detailing four specific aspects of its operations. Some topics to consider are facility layouts, process, inventory management, quality standards, logistics, and/or operational improvement initiatives. You will also consider the organization's operational challenges in overseas markets. An evaluation of these topics will provide you with an increased awareness of operations management and its applications within an organization.

Notes from the teacher and grading rubric for this weeks portion:

Be very careful when you pick a company for your project.  Remember you will be detailing four specific aspects of its operations. Some topics to consider are facility layouts, process, inventory management, quality standardslogistics, and/or operational improvement initiatives. You will also consider the organization's operational challenges in overseas markets.

As pointed out in the Week 1 introduction: "Operations management is the science of ensuring goods and service are successfully delivered to customers. This also encompasses other areas such as the design of goods and services, management of processes, and continuous improvement."
