S

Purpose of this Project

The purpose of this project is to determine the amount of force that was applied to my wrist which caused it to fracture and the speed that I injured my wrist

How the Fracture Happened

The fracture happened after I went down an Inclined road on my longboard and hit a speed bump causing me to fall backwards.

Known Measurements

Length of the incline road: 90 meters

Coefficient of Kinetic friction between the wheels and the road: .057

Weight of me and the board: 115 kg

Initial speed: 5 miles per hour

Angle of incline: 15 degrees

Initial speed: 6.7 meters/second

Force Calculations

Weight force: Fg=m*g=115Kg*-9.81m/s^2=1128N

Fgy=Fg*cos(15)=1089.7N

Fgx=Fg*sin(15)=292.0N

Normal Force: Fn=-Fgy= -1089.7 N

Force of rolling friction: μ*Fn=.057*-1089.7=-62.1N

Speed at time of Impact

Acceleration: a=Fx/m=(292-62.1)/115=2 m/s^2

Velocity: V= sqrt((Vo^2)+2a*d)=sqrt((2.2^2)+2*2*90)

V=19.1m/s
