Walmart Mission/Vision Statements
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, usually known as Walmart is US based multinational organization operating a long chain of retail stores all over the world. The organization was founded by Sam Walton in 1962 and currently, it is working in more than 28 countries including China, India, United Kingdom and countries from Africa. The company has more than 250 million customers worldwide, and it makes the Walmart, one of the largest retail stores all over the world. Currently, the organization has more than 11, 500 locations worldwide under 63 banners. “Save Money Live Better” is a slogan of company and mission statement of the company is: “Saving people money so they can live better.” The motto of the company is derived from its mission statement. In the same line, the vision statement of the company is: “To be the best retailer in the hearts and minds of consumers and employees Quinn, 2015() .”
Business Role of Walmart and Alignment of Company’s actions with its Vision Statement
For year 203 million and 2014, Forbes Magazine ranked the Walmart in Fortune 500 organizations of the world. Currently, an organization has more than 350 million customers all around the world, and it makes Walmart the largest retail all organization worldwide. The company has perfect ethical and organizational norms which are followed by the employees very strictly. In the same line, the organization is also contributing to promote the green revolution through adapting the green supply chain management and green human resource practices Weier, 2015() . Quality on low prices is recognition of Walmart, and it differentiates the company from other organization. Employees earn wages while customers save their money by purchasing their products at low prices. Walmart offers its products for everyone and it is the primary factor which differentiates it from its competitors. In light of above arguments, it can be said that the business actions taken by Walmart have complete alignment with mission and vision of the company Quinn, 2015() .
Guidance through Mission and Vision
The mission talks about current objectives and performance of organization while vision speaks of the future goals of the organization. In other words, mission and vision are short descriptions of company’s goals, strategies and performance as well. From the Walmart mission and vision statements, it is evident that customer is a primary asset of the organization. Customer loyalty, customer commitment, customer satisfaction and customer attachment are primary objectives of the organization Chan, 2015() . Being the manager of the company, making the consumer relationship management most effective is my first responsibility as the business mission and vision statement says. In the same line, providing the customers quality products at low prices is also my objective. In Hence, it can be said that mission and vision statement of a company is a guideline to company’s management that how to work and how to perform.
Absence of Mission/Vision Statement
If a company has no mission/vision statement, then I believe that company has no direction, no path to achieve its goals, no organization philosophy, no objectives and not clear about its operations as well. A clear mission and vision statement make the company more clear about its aims and business decisions as well.
