Human Development
Human development takes into account the growth of the human life. It does not consider economic growth as what makes the life of then human beings become better but it says that economic growth can lead to human growth. Human beings need to have a good life. There have been very many theories which are related to human growth. The human growth is very key since it is aimed at improving the quality of the human beings. Every country should try to ensure that human beings have had a beautiful and developing life. Human growth and development ensures that human beings have been able to have the life that they want to have (Beckett, Taylor, 2010). It ensures that human beings are able to choose the path that their lives have to take. Human beings can be said to incorporate opportunities for people.
People should be given freedom to lives the lives that they value. There should be a variety of opportunities from which people can be able to choose from. When people go to schools and they get their knowledge and expertise, they should have opportunities which will ensure that they w9ill have a life that is full of happiness. It is mostly said that it will be of no benefit by educating a child and when they have finished their courses, they have no access to the job market. This has happened in many cases with the female gender. By ensuring that there are human development and growth, there should be opportunities to make sure that students get opportunities. Another thing which are incorporated in human beings is choices. People should have the power to make their choices. They have to choose whether to take the opportunities which are available.
When it comes to the population of Puerto Rico, the population have been declining. The country can be said to be having a negative human growth. The Puerto country can be said to be growing on the negative side. It has been sited to be having a great number of outmigration (Morris, 2015). People are moving out of the island, and they are looking for better places. When people are moving away from a country, it is because there are no many opportunities and choices in that country. A large number have sited the lack of jobs and also family related issues as why they have moved out of the country. The population of the country is, therefore, continuing to reduce.
Theories of human development and growth
There are various theories which are related to human development. One of the theories is the Freud’s psychosexual development theory. The main influential theories of this theory are Sigmund Freud. The theory aims at explaining how the childhood of a person develops. Freud believed that the personality of a person during the childhood of the person. There are various stages which are described in this theory. This means that early child life plays a bigger role in the personality of a person. Some of the stages which are discussed are: the oral stage, the anal stage, phallic stage, latency stage, and then the genital stage where full development is said to happen to cope up with the environment.
The other theory is the Erickson’s theory. Which was influenced by Erickson? This theory is a theory of psychosocial development and believes that personality develops in a series of stages. It mostly focuses on ego identity. The stages mentioned by this theory are the infancy stage, early childhood, late childhood, school age, adolescence, young adulthood, adulthood, and then maturity. The other theory is the Piaget's theory of cognitive development. Jean Piaget influenced the approach. The theory includes schemas which are the building blocks of knowledge. It also includes adaptation processes which are equilibrium, assimilation, and accommodation. It also recognizes various stages of development which are sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational.
The aspects of the life span perspective of human development
Life span perspective can be said to be a human development which is determined by various aspects, elements, and frameworks. These can be said to be the various building blocks which are experienced by people during their growth and development. One of the aspects is that development is multidimensional which means that it affects every aspect of human being. Another aspect and framework are that human development is multidirectional. Multidirectional means that growth of human beings involves both growth and decline. Human development is also seen to be plastic. Saying that human development is plastic means that people are capable of changing of their characters and personalities. Another aspect of development is that it can be affected by historical aspects and environmental aspects of the place where human beings are located.
Heredity and environment on human development
As we have seen, the environment and the history of the human beings is also an aspect which influences the human development. The environment in which a child is brought up is very critical in creating the character and personality of the person. Most children are said to take after their parents and their relatives. Children learn through role models and what they observe from the environment is what they embrace. The heredity can, therefore, be said to take a great part in human development. In most cases, the genes have also been sited to be effects of human development and growth; some families are said to have certain genes which influence the life of their generations (Rogoff, 2003). Some are said to be tall and some short, dome hairy and other bald. The environmental conditions affect the human development in that people can choose to become who they are, as a result of what their environment have pushed them to be. The environment includes the family, school, government and even the community.
