Introduction
The Fast Track is one of the best Railway companies in light transportation in the US with nationally accredited awards in customer care and the services they offer. With the current increasing population trends within the cities, the company has eased the intercity movement of goods and services. As such, it has linked the city to the neighborhoods and the outskirts in relieving the congestion in the city and other modes of transport (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012). However, the company has been faced with a lot of challenges which has compromised the realization of its objected goals. For example, a lot of fatal accidents have been reported where a report indicates that death one person dies in every 12.5 million passengers, a statistic which the industry wants to eliminate entirely (Creately.com, 2016). Moreover, there exist a lot of challenges attributed to internal and external factors which have prompted the Fast Track to conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Strengths) analysis.
THE SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths
Weaknesses
The Fast Track has traversed the better metropolitan cities with a lot of feeder railways; however, the emerging population increase has exerted a lot of pressure to the available trains thus creating a crisis in the balance of demand and supply principles. Also, the growing population doesn't meet the available light train transportation system. Therefore, most people resort to using the personal car causing a lot of congestion in the city. The implication of this is that the company has not achieved its objectives of decongesting the city by offering the reliable and sufficient alternative means of transport (Creately.com, 2016). Some of the internal problems the company is facing are the bloating wages for the employees and the daily operational costs which have a direct limitation to the target profit. Precisely, the main problem the Fast Track is facing is stiff competition from already established rival transport companies. Nevertheless, the company has come up with long-term strategies to overtake and dominate the market environment for healthy competition (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012)
Opportunities
Its strategic location within the city has offered it the best chance for its accessibility by the passengers without supplementary means of other transport which has provided an advantage to the company over its competitors (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012). Moreover, the railway is linked to most surrounding metropolitan cities, therefore, offering secure means of commuting. Also, the fact that the railway is connected to other ways of additional transport system like roads and its accessibility to the outskirts and neighborhoods has made it a preferable to most short and long distance passengers. The company enjoys the positive customer reputation to expand its market base and attract more passengers which can be considered a progressive step towards the company achieving its goals.
Threats
The Fast Track faces a lot of threats which limits its profits and operation. Firstly, market competition from the already established rival companies with larger resource base compared to the Fast Track, which is still a growing company (Creately.com, 2016). Secondly, there are also new emerging companies on the light rail transportation which come with relatively lower ticket prices to woo passenger thus posing a threat to this company. Also, the expensive cost of advertisement with the aim to popularize the company among the citizens has affected the financial returns. Technological change provides another biggest change since the company would be forced to conform to it (Creately.com, 2016). The implication of this is that the purchase of modern equipment would be costly to the company.
Strategic Implication of the SWOT Analysis
In conclusion, the company aims to make the profit despite internal and external challenges facing it. The Fast Track is looking to endeavor in other profit-making investments besides rail transport. Subsequently, this economic dynamic approach will provide a solution to short term and long term financial crises through alternative source of finance thus not limiting any operation (Creately.com, 2016). Concisely, it will come up with modern technology to cope with the emerging trends in the market as it looks forward to overtaking the dominated competitive environment. Moreover, Fast Track should take advantage of its strategically prime location to monopolize the market by offering the best and quality services which will naturally attract the customers (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012). Most importantly, the company needs to come up with a motivational plan for their employees which are usually the foundation of success for any company.
