How Knowledge of Fire Protection Water-Only Systems May Influence the Incident Commander’s Incident Action Plan
Introduction
The knowledge of fire protection water-only system provides the incident commander with management principles required to coordinate various available resources to the success of the action plan (Davis, 2000). The knowledge enables the incident commander to manage his own time, his personal budget and many other aspects that may influence the action plan. This knowledge assists the incident commander to manage the available apparatus and manpower, the activities in terms of working days and the organizational goals and objectives professionally. All this is achieved by considering management principles of planning, coordinating, organizing, directing, delegating, communicating and evaluating. Although the knowledge provides the incident commander with the required skills, it is also disadvantageous as the incident commander is limited to only a few techniques of fighting the fire.
According to American Water Works Association (2003), the knowledge allows the incident commander always to integrate firefighters, other emergency responders' safety and health considerations in his command process. The integration ensures that health and safety issues will always be considered by the incident commander. The knowledge ensures that the incident commander is able to come up with an incident action that caters for the responder safety. The incident commander is able to carry out an early evaluation that enables him to consider the current conditions of the plan in a standard way. Additionally, the knowledge permits the incident commander to predict the sequence of events concurrently. In the event that the incident commander is constrained to one method of fire protection, he is able to communicate effectively. This ensures that the incident commander is capable of transmitting and receiving information, to maintain an awareness of the condition and be able to communicate with all the components that are available in the action plan (Davis, 2000).
The Impacts
Strategic knowledge of fire protection water-only system enables the incident commander to position the available resources and the functions the resources will be assigned to perform in the event there is an outbreak of fire or an emergency incident. The knowledge enables the incident commander to understand the level of risk which the respondents are exposed to. In the long-run, this ensures that the incident commander comes up with an effective, offensive and directive strategy that has the core objective of ending the hazard. Other methods of fighting fire will not be incorporated in the action plan and therefore, it will be challenging for the incident commander to carry out the operation in the state of an emergency (American Water Works Association, 2003).
In the event that the incident commander is able to understand the ways of protecting the fire, he is able to incorporate both the defensive and offensive strategies in his action plan. Therefore, the knowledge enables the incident commander to state his action plan based on the overall strategy of the firm and the function that the action plan is supposed to perform. In the long run, the knowledge is able to permit the incident commander to identify, evaluate and manage the concepts of the action plan and incorporate all of them in the command process. The knowledge will enable the incident commander to come up with an effective, elaborate and accurate plan that is very functional. All the errors and inefficiencies that would have been incorporated in the action plan in the event of lack of knowledge are all eliminated in the new action plan (Davis, 2000).
Conclusion
The knowledge of fire protection water-only system enables the incident commander to understand the challenges that are involved in the fire service. The biggest challenge is that the incident commander will not be able to understand other methods of fighting fire ordeals. This is too risky as it will be dangerous for the firm in the event water will not be the appropriate method of putting off the fire. Therefore, it is required that the firm seeks help from the other firms that have effective methods of fighting fire incidents in their action plan.

Introduction
Water only system is an important technique in the modern fire control technique, its importance as well as its uniqueness makes its understanding necessary. This system influence incidence commander’s incident action in various ways due to its numerous importance. This importance will be discussed in this paper to explain how the knowledge of the water only system may influence the incident commander’s incident action.
Influence of Water Only System on Incident Commanders Action
Since water only systems are made to effectively extinguish and suppresses fire until the arrival of the fire department at the scene of an incident, this provides a life safety opportunity for occupant of the residence and provides an avenue to alert the people around to respond to the emergency, Property damage are minimize due to the action of the first responder on the scene.
The water system is very advantageous in the residential building most especially due to its affordability, it is cheap and less expensive which makes it’s a better alternative home owners since the influence of installing is far greater than not installing it, it is therefore more available and cost effective for home owner which increase the security level provided of the building occupants, the availability and accessibility of water makes this system available and affordable for many, although maintaining cost and regular inspection cost of the system could be very high which pose a major challenges to the users in many cases.
As beneficial as water damage is, whenever damages occur especially a broken or damages to the water head, the influence could be over whelming on the responder action if not well control on time, there could be a possibility of flooding the whole area within a little time which could lead to environmental damages and damages of others properties. A regular inspection and maintenance according to NFPA 25 (Klaus, 2014), will provide an ultimate benefit of the system although this could sometimes very expensive as mentioned earlier. It is very expedient to put safety control in place when dealing with fire response, a incident commander action needs the knowledge of the water only system since safety and healthy workplace is a fundamental requirement for all Americans (Goetsch, 2011).
In conclusion, considering the importance of this system and relating its influence to the safety of life and property, it is advisable to have a good knowledge of the water only system especially due to its affordability and benefits it provides. It thus have a lot of influence on the first responders action incase of emergency since it provide better safety system.
