Personal Essay: Security Manager Comment by Jerome Mayfield: Be sure to add your header to this page and all subsequent pages. The resource I mentioned above can help.

My most preferred profession is directed towards dealing with criminal justice, specifically in the position of Security Manager. I am attracted to this position as it is directly aligned with my area of concentration as far as my career path is concerned. As a security manager, I am expected to protect an organization against criminal activities. The position of a Security manager should not be confused for the position of security personnel. A security personnel is trusted with the responsibility of patrolling  or watching a given area, but my  work involves defining the logistics, security strategies, and coming up with security schedules to help in organizing the various security personnel in their day-to-day duties. These are managerial duties as compared to the responsibilities of security officers deployed in various companies to guard the routine programs (Loeber & Farrington, 2012). Comment by Jerome Mayfield: Remember that this is your informative essay.

I have a feeling to believe that this is the best career option, as it requires someone who has a high level of awareness and excellent conversation skills as well as the capability to lead and direct other colleagues, which are features that I have. In addition, I have always had the passion obtaining a managerial position since I was young. Thus, holding this position would be a dream come true for me.  This gives me a motivation and drive to major in criminal justice in my academics so that I can fit well in this position. Another strategy that will help me improve my employment opportunity and even advance to the position of a security manager is seeking certification. I will obtain Certification Protection credential from the American Society for Industrial Security International. Comment by Jerome Mayfield: You've cited your source well here. Note that most informative essays are written from a distanced third person point of view. First person can work as long as you rely on research to back up and explain the profession. You will need to add your thesis to tell your reader three points you'll discuss within your essay.

The demand in security is increasing in every part of the world. The world is craving for peace and with the increased insecurity, attacks and bombings by militia groups are in at least every part of the world, security measures need to be implemented in every affected country. Even the unaffected countries need to put measures to avert attacks. There is no better method of achieving this than implementing security strategies and policies to create a secure environment. The need to create a peaceful environment has always motivated me to put extra effort towards achieving this goal, the goal to head a security department or just be in the position of a security manager (Jennings,  Loeber, Pardini, Piquero, & Farrington, 2016). As a security manager, I will develop and enforce security strategies to create a safe environment for both staff and visitors and the surrounding communities in which we operate. Comment by Jerome Mayfield: To make sure this is an informative essay rather than a personal essay, how about focusing this paragraph on the requirement needed to obtain this position. That way, you can list the requirements and perhaps find a source that discusses some of the job duties.

The main responsibilities of a security manager differ from one organization to another.  I will choose the company to work for depending on the working conditions and the opportunities for future growth. However, my most preferred organization to hold this position would be serving as a security manager for a Transportation Security Administration. In such a firm, I will be in charge of security operations at an airport terminal. I will be in charge of supervisors and transportation security officers (Loeber & Farrington, 2012). Additionally, I want to hold such a position so that I can manage screening checkpoints, recognize and recommend corrections to improper use of equipment or screening procedures, manage the performance of workers, and coordinate incident response at the local level as well as coordinating with other airport staff to maintain security throughout the terminal. Comment by Jerome Mayfield: You're off to a good start here but need to again focus this for the purpose of informing your reader. How about, given your content, if you focus this paragraph on why this position is continually needed in society?

The responsibilities held above will also coincide with my crucial goals of securing travel and protecting people. Insecurity has also affected the air transport with planes disappearing due to plans by attackers. I have the assurance that I will restore confidence in their workforce to ensure that the traveling public, airlines, and all individuals on an aircraft get to their destination in a safe and worry-free environment. Managing the screening operation will be my principal responsibility. This means that I will be making sure that the standard operating procedures adhere to all the pre-requisites in order to ensure maximum safety is maintained. I will make sure that all employees know the required procedures and are proficient in their tasks (Jennings,  Loeber, Pardini, Piquero, & Farrington,  2016). I will make use of the weaknesses in the screening procedures that I have experienced in other public places to make my area of operation the most efficient. Ensuring that staff actually screens the visiting public for any harmful devices and metallic objects will ensure real security is maintained. Comment by Jerome Mayfield: Good. This paragraph focuses on the job duties once one has gotten the job.

This position also needs an individual who has the capability to make informed and timely decisions. This is a quality I possess and thus I will be able to execute this aspect with much ease, Making timely decisions and taking appropriate actions will ensure that any incidences are reported and actions taken at the earliest convenience. If an incident were to occur, I am expected to act as a liaison between the Federal Security Director, and make an informed decision based on the situation. Timely decisions and actions points may also help in preventing anticipated security attacks. I will be able to act in cooperation with other security officials in order to tighten security strategies.  Comment by Jerome Mayfield: Be sure to take the focus off of you in this essay and put it on the task of informing your audience. If you're writing about this particular job, you want to inform the reader of three things you think they need to know about the job.

To conclude, we can see from above information that my career path is the one that involves many responsibilities and forms an important part of the organization that I will work with. Maintaining security is my primary concern as I have a great passion to serve in this capacity. My biggest priority and motive for pursuing this career path is to ensure that criminals will never get an opportunity to inflict harm to people (Jennings, Loeber, Pardini, Piquero, & Farrington, 2016). Innocent travelers and other individuals have suffered and lost their lives due to criminal activities conducted by militia groups. I will work towards minimizing and eliminating this vice. Comment by Jerome Mayfield: How might you eliminate this paragraph or combine it with your first body paragraph where you already discuss the qualifications needed for this job? Comment by Jerome Mayfield: You're off to a good start here. Be sure to restate your thesis before wrapping up your paper.
