Module 7.2 Terrace

Under what conditions and in what job tasks must individuals be able to multi-task? Would multi-media presentations during training be useful in preparation for such job tasks? Why or why not? Could such presentations assist in placing learners on a continuum of multi-tasking ability? Why or why not?

 

I am not really sure if there is one thing in actions or in thought that utilizes only a singular function or source. The actions we do, the conceptions we concur, and the resolutions we enact all are a result of many different functions together. Multi-tasking is essential in all abilities, in preparation or in delivery. If you are working on an assembly line and the only task you have is to put the cap on the bottle as it passes; with this one task, you will have to keep your caps arranged, you would have to coordinate changes in timing of the bottles, and you would have to re-assemble your supply of caps during capping. With working as, a construction worker, Chef or Cook, Delivery Driver, Teacher, Customer service representative in sales, service or both will require multi-tasking skills in all aspects for the flow of the task. Utilizing multi-media presentations in training as presentation or interactive is a necessity in the futility to promote the multi-task of most job task (Cardoso-Leite, Green, & Bavelier, 2014). The reward center gets gratification from juggling several tasks (Viitanen, Westman, Kinnunen, & Oittinen, 2012). Within the brain, the inferior frontal gyrus is involved with the central execution stage of with bottleneck of multiple processing, with practice the information processing in this area increases in efficiency (Cardoso-Leite, Green, & Bavelier, 2014). Buchweitz, Keller, Meyler, and Just (2012) highlighted the role of the inferior frontal gyrus in dual-task performance and furthermore highlighted the importance of changes in functional connectivity and shifts in the timing of the BOLD responses in the dual-task condition.  Formulating and creating processes in training as a consortium of task incorporating multi-focus will help establish a routine, and increased ability to shift between discrete tasks (Viitanen, Westman, Kinnunen, & Oittinen, 2012).
