Organization Summary
a. Organization Name
· The organization that I have chosen for my proposal is FedEx.
b. Years in Business
· FedEx has been in business for 45 years.
c. Company Synopsis
· FedEx is a worldwide transportation and shipping company that offers delivery services. Frederick W. Smith was the original founding member of this company in the year 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. FedEx offers a wide range of delivery services all over the world. It avails shipping and freight services of products, items and envelope delivery. The shipping services include package delivery, envelope and also express item delivery. They well handle peoples’ property and items. Both air and shipping as well as land transportation is offered at FedEx. They track lost and stolen items through identity numbers, references and by Transportation Control Numbers. Proofs of delivery are acquired by FedEx to ensure proper and efficient deliver through their well trained and disciplined drivers. Therefore, in general, FedEx provides excellent services with good delivery assurance of goods globally. It is very reliable, fast and affordable.
Logistics Processes
Logistics processes encourage good relationships between manufacturing and delivery of goods and services. These processes should show timely delivery, production, affordable costs and excellent quality of products. When all these aspects are well maintained, a company, through its management can coordinate manufacturing, consumption, storage of products and distribution. Logistics processes try to make production and distribution of goods and services in an efficient and healthy manner. Logistics aspects, according to Christopher (2011) include production costs, timely delivery, good quality products and well payment of working personnel. A good logistics process within a company integrates tools to cater for processes involved in production, distribution and disposal of goods and services offered. Logistic processes that could be improved include:
a. Good payment of workers and management. Providing them with good allowances will motivate them to be trustworthy, and in turn improve proper and faster working.
b. Reduced costs of production. Many buyers would prefer cheaper and lower costs of products. This improves proper disposal and distribution of goods and service.
c. Timely delivery. When time of delivery is proposed to be earlier, goods will be distributed on time and this increases output. It can be achieved through well serviced delivery vehicles. A company should also put in place measures to have new vehicles which will aid in faster delivery of goods and services.
d. Increase number of working staffs. This effectively maximizes available resources to make provision of goods and services a success. This will mean no activity is left unattended.
All these aspects according to Murphy (2010) will bloom production if they are well implemented.
Chosen Process
In conclusion, an organization or a company with conducive implemented logistics processes gears up its production, distribution and supply of necessary tools on demand. I have chosen to work with the process of reducing production costs. I truly believe decreasing these costs help all involved, the company is paying less and allows those savings to be passed on to the end customer.
